Those close to the club.
He seems to be the obvious candidate to me and as I say, its the next few years as I see crucial for some outside investment - things will hopefullly pick up considerably revenue wise, if we are at NM with a decent team

| This seems a strange announcement for a club who are positive that they have everything in place for their funding of a new stadium, and it would worry me if this were my club. Why if you were on the verge of helping the club take its biggest step forward in years would you say to someone else 'you come and do it you can do a better job than we have?'.
On the otherhand it may work out and someone may seize the opportunity to invest - and I hope it does as the RFL agenda of expansion at the cost of grass roots rugby league will end up killing our game

| The stadium is nothing to do with the club.... How many times must this be explained?
I have taught remedial maths groups with quicker uptakes than some posters on here!

| Sandal Wild Cat why do you have to be rude to everyone! I can assure you I am an intelligent person who never has and never was in any remedial group.
Whilst the statement has nothing to do with the stadium any statement made by the club reflect on the club as a whole to the outside world.

| My point was (and still is...yet again) that the two things of the stadium and club are two completely different bodies with the only connection being an agreed tenancy.

| Quote: Catwoman1 "There was pandemonium on the Cas message board last Thursday night/Friday morning.
A well known shareholder who had attended the meeting, and apparently managed to extract the truth from RW, said he could not post details as it was too damaging to the Club if it got out ... but he would send report to people via PM.
Of course before too long it was posted on the board before being quickly deleted. All threads about it were removed Friday morning.
If you read Outwood Tiger's posts (I notice he has not been on here for a while!) on link below it will give you an idea of the content
But at least we can still pay our players unlike wakey, how long is it now ? a month

| so you made your point but any need for being insulting -
I was stating what the outside world will see and when i say the outside world I mean people who aren't connected with Wakefield.

| The Stadium and the club are inexorably linked. So much time and effort has been put into the Stadium issue over the last few years that I believe that the Club has suffered as a result. That's not intended as a criticism, rather than a reflection of the urgent priority for us to have a new Stadium going forward.
I have always thought that, with Ted ageing (sorry old man ) there would be a natural point of transition to a new board at the time of moving. The legacy of Ted's tenure will hopefully be a club that survived, against all odds, in SL for 13 years until we had the Holy Grail of the new ground which will hopefully lead to a bright and secure future for the club.
The one thing we are missing right now is cash. The club will have an overdraft facility (as all clubs) and is trading on a shoe-string budget, but to move the club forward - on and off the pitch - will take further investment, hence the call to arms.
I have been, and remain, a great admirer of Ted (I think you all know that), but I became a friend due to our shared support for the club. I have, and will continue to do, said that I will support whoever is running the club and I will continue in my efforts to see the move to NM succeeds.
What we need now is for all of us to make it clear that this IS a club worthy of investment; that we are here and are loyal; that we believe that the club has a vibrant future and that the move to NM will re-ignite the passion for the sport in our Merrie City. WE have a major role in this.
Fingers crossed for the new White Knight(s)!

I'm not sure if your employed or not but generally people tend to get paid monthly! So spot on!

The current owners were ready to move on 10 years ago but circumstances dictated that they stay involved.
So here we are, 10 years on, it's no surprise that Teds recent financial blow has prompted him to reassess how much longer he can be contributive to the Trinity cause.
In my opinion Ted and the BOD have taken the club to the point of no return as far as the stadium go's, by that I mean that any new owner could not now unwind the progress made towards a new stadium in favour of staying at Belle Vue and maybe dropping down a division for financial reasons alone.
Also the club has been built up to be in a strong position off the field in terms of junior development, community work etc. There are some excellent people on board in the backroom. The business model stands scrutiny on it's own merits, which is more than most other clubs who rely on a sugar daddy can say. The prospect of a new stadium becoming more and more likely, the increase in revenue streams and everything else that comes with it only make the club more attractive to a potential new owner/investor.
There's also the practical issues of new ownership to be taken into account, any new owner will need time to familiarise them selves with the nuances of running a SL club. The year to come would offer a great chance to do that before the club moves into its new home.
Also a new owner would want to restructure the club to suit their vision and style of ownership. It would be easier to do that from day one in the new ground rather than having to alter what the previous regime had set in place.
So from the BODs point of view this is the absolute best time to seek a new owner.

Agree with most of that.
I guess this announcement could be viewed in two ways; the optimistic view is that the BoD believe that the process of getting the new stadium and a SL licence is indeed past the point of no return and as such, the club is worth a hell of a lot more now than it was just a few months ago. That being the case, it's a very sensible decision to sell now, when the return will be much greater.
The pessimistic view is that the BoD know that all is lost and are deserting the sinking ship.
My personal feeling is towards the former, but only time will tell.
