| Quote: newcat "It might be okay on Cas match days, but what about Wakey match days? It's bad enough getting to xscape (& Junction 32) without a few thousand RL fans also turning up as well. I know we do not get that many, but I'm counting away fans as well. But not when we play Catalans, Quins, Crusaders & any other expansion team the RL adds to SL in 2012
If you look at my post you will see i've explained why there wont be a congestion problem, the only reason why there is current congestion there is becuase the roads are being improved so there wont be a congestion problem when the stadium is built. before this work was started there was no congestion problem. The new road from cutsyke will also mean that the amount of people coming off m62 can be split between the two junctions. As well as this theres is the option of rail travel if your worried about congestion.
One thing i didnt directly mention is that with more to do round the area (even if its only go for a drink) people wont all be arriving just before kick off and they wont all be leaving just after the hooter, the influx will be staggered

As for the business being annoyed most of those business are for eating, drinking shopping or entertaining, a few thousand extra customers every few weeks would be very appealing to them. xscape have already said they fully support the stadium.'"
Just a small point.
In the modern entertainment industry the entry fee is just one opportunity to make the all important wonga.
You need to sell all sorts of merchandise, lottery opportunities, supporting literature and especiallly food and drink. The best way to do this is to have a captive audience where you are the sole supplier.
The risk at GH with all those other attractions/distractions is that the fans are only in the stadium for the minimal length of time to watch the game and their additional cash is leaked to other businesses.

| Pointless arguing this as it has already been discussed at length on the other thread. The Cas site has many positives that far outweigh the Wakefield site in some respects but the Trinity fans don't want to move, that's their prerogative.
I can see why but using Barnsley is almost as bad and I cannot for the life of me see that being financially viable.

| I don't get the big outrage at having to travel from Wakefield to Cas. I do it every week, and it only takes me about 5 or 10 minutes longer than it did when I lived in Normanton. Hardly a trek. But I guess it's easy for me to say this as I might not live as far out as some people.

The vast majority of fans only spend the minimum times inside grounds as it is (at cas less than 10% of fans are there an hour before or after kick off), so i doubt it will make much differance and that will be balanced out by the fact that the shop and bar (which will be open all week round) will be have more people passing by and will make money 7 days a week. Cant see it affecting the lottery, programme or shirt sales either.

Oh, the irony.
Nearly a hundred posts in four days!
I go to a match, I watch a match, and I go home.
I couldn’t care less what’s round & about.

It's not the fact they have to travel, per se. It's just pettiness towards Cas.

| It could all be academic now anyway, news breaking is that Hicksons has been bought by a chinese company and the chemical license revoked freeing up the sale of the jungle, on that note we should go it alone and turn our backs when Trin come with the begging bowl
Shame cos it could be the end of them

Great news, we can both go it alone. You don't need the council land and neither do Wakefield. No need to argue any more. New stadiums for both, brilliant

I heard a murmuring about two weeks back that the license was in the process of being removed, although with no actual details. Think I also heard the council had got their act together with regards to the compulsory purchase too.
