| It all rests on this ground we cannot commit to anything ! I personally hope Kear stays and is with us for when we are in the new ground. He cannot work miracles on a tight budget !

He's not done too badly so far.

| Why do people still assume that revenues will dramatically increase if we manage to get a new stadium? People are not flocking through the turnstyles now, they were not even coming in large numbers when we were winning and playing attractive rugby. Major sponsors will be hard to come by in this economic climate for years to come. We have sold our major asset (Belle Vue) - so why would any would-be investor look to take over the club now? In my opinion, we would limp along with much the same hard core fanbase as we have now, only in flashier surroundings.

| I was actually with the Catalans at the Marriott in Leeds Tuesday evening and I was again told a major thing was happening while they were here in the UK.
Their club president and a few other bigwigs from Les Cats were staying with the team with a view to a appointment that was iminent.
Could this be John Kears appointment by any chance??? I'm sure any discussions would happen over here to ensure JK isn't seen negotiating away in France etc.

Putting the awful form aside for a moment, I imagine a lot of people are put off from coming to BV due to the state of the ground. It is regularly comes top on the worst ground to visit polls we see on these forums and away supporters are on record saying that they will not come due to the lack of facilities on offer.
Any projection on increased revenue streams are just that. There is no guarantee but looking at clubs who have moved into new homes recently they have increased the gates by 40%. Even allowing for the recession and halfing that figure should see crowds rise above an average of 7k which is a good platform to build on.
Of course with better facilities and a secure future the club would be in a better position to attract quality players which should, in theory, see better results and a further increase in attendances boost revenue.
For revenue to increase dramatically the move needs to coincide an increase in marketing as the novelty factor will only last for so long.

| Meanwhile, Kear has distanced himself from speculation linking him with the coaching vacancy at the Dragons.
"I'm contracted to Wakefield," he said. "I'm doing all I can to help Wakefield beat Catalans tomorrow evening."
did he not say the same about the England job
something cooking eh !!!!!!!!!!

Well me personally woud bring 2 more people with me most weeks in a new stadium, so if this same rule applied to only 1 in 4 people you would be looking at roughly a 50% increase in people through the gate.

Kear was the coach of PSG at the start of SL and has had an eye on French RL for some time now (wanted to sign Fakir back in his days as FC coach). As a Catalan fan I would love to see him in Perpignan, he's a coach who gets the best out of the players he has available and has a track history of improving players to get them to SL level, exactly what we need with the French players.
That said, I don't think it will happen. Kear turned down the National job to stay at Wakefield, why take the move to France instead? Unless he backs that up with the France national coach side, and even then I would rather have Macnamara's job.

One or two Wakey fans are questioning if he's gone past that point, i have no idea about what goes on at the club but somethings gone a little stale, maybe its just a BIG blip or maybe he's run his course with our club.
We can't carry on going backwards so it must be sorted ASAP, on a side note i think he would be right for Catalans and development of young French players.
I hope he stays and can turn things around.
