To be honest i think it would be a case of one win and the team would be back on target, because it looks like a confidence boost is all that it would take to get them back on track, and all this doom and gloom can stop, because we are still in a decent position in the league and there are not too many teams playing good, consistent rugby at the moment.
As far as a merger if the ground was in Cas with Cas in the name then it's a no.'"
shifty..it's the future we need to look forward to and the future is the kids..and the kids want to support a team with a chance..if there was an M then within 5 years all would be forgotten..we would have 10k at every home game and a team near the top than two at the bottom! imho and looking at reality to me it seems the only way to go for the future! and before i get slated i have been a wakefield supporter since 1976!

crowt123 it is easier to move funds than it is to get planning permission,
There is money for the cas project but form what i am led to believe there is a shortfall, therefore a ground share would be exactly that share the cost! i don't want to do this as i am sure the majority of wakey fans don't but this may be the only solution for both clubs

Well said, its the only way we can compete with the big boys... the game has changed so much even in my short(ish) time watching at BV.
It will have to be at Newmarket though, can't see me going to j31 every week.

| Trinity Tigers playing in Glasshoughton for purely financial purposes (Xscape etc to make gigs a prospect), Name is a mix of both teams but doesn't mention a location and 4 kits like Wests do and it could work.

| this should of been done when the game went full time, the country had the money at the time to pile into the game. it should of been built in normy and shared by all 3 clubs. the game has changed cas, wakey and fev won stuff with largely local lads who worked part time at the pits and various other jobs. playing was part time so they didnt have to relocate. now if either team has any good players they have to be sold for the clubs to continue,we exist and thats all we do, wel never win anything again baring a miracle. no club can make enough money, the product is poor and crowds are poor.this area cannot sutain 3 teams,at least the locallads could stay with a large local team instead of being cherry picked. everyone knows i dont like cas but feel that this maybe the only way forward and survive.

In a way I agree but up to this poor run of form, most people were of the opinion that with a new stadium Trinity could move forward,we could increase crowds with home and away support, advertising would increase, make better buys down to having more money,a franchise and better facilities.
Obviously there are positives of merger and in time some supporters would return as well as some stay from both sides. But who knows what would become of a merged team ,the problems with trying to merge is huge, with problems like, who's going to own it,run it,coach it as well as plenty of others. The initial merger may be greeted with poor crowds, which would lead to no money to make the team better and then back to square one.
Personally I'd like to see what Trinity can achieve in a new stadium with bigger crowds and a renewed hope and atmosphere.

| Wakefield have the the potential to succeed in SL with out a merger The city is big enough to support it both in business backing and support. The new community stadium at newmarket is the best thing to happen for Trinity, Belle Vue has held the club back for years. England is different than Australia regarding mergers because our clubs represent our Cities and Towns thats why we support them. Don't forget Wakefield is the biggest City in England without a Pro football team once we move into a stadium to be proud of instead of the dump of our present ground, with the right marketing there's no reason why we can't be a regular top 6 SL side

| Supporting Trinity is like being on a bad drug! Perhaps a merger is the excuse some of us need to break the habit of a lifetime? Would be nice to have free weekends through the summer.
I'll stick to being an addict for now but should the merger cure come along I'll look forward to a drug free future.

| As soon as wakey announced the location of Newmarket Lane I warned both Cas and wakey fans that a merger would come and I still don't see anything to make me think it wont happen. As I have resigned myself to this I have mused over the prospect for quite a while and I think the majority of people, myself included, could follow a merged team under the following conditionswhole area to blossom and engender a lost sense of pride and community which has otherwise been consigned to the rubbish tip by successive Tory and (more shamefully in my opinion) Labour governments. Apologies I digress!
If these three points were applied, more importantly point 1, then I, as gut wrenching as it would be, could support a merged team with the pride and passion with which I have followed Castleford Tigers.
You may have noticed that I have left Featherstone Rovers out of the equation, this is purely as the thread appears to me to be talking about Cas and wakey only. They could easily be placed into the equation I have outlined above with little or no problem should they choose to.

The names must die with the merger; it's the only way it could work.
2. The newly merged team must play in completely neutral colours (no black, amber, red, white or blue) difficult though this may be. There aren't many left as I'm sure neither of us wants to play in blue (spit!)
3. The newly formed club must be named independently of the two places. Who says a team has to bear the name of a Town or a City? It has to be something completely synonomous with the area; the only thing I can think of that alienates no-one, but incorporates almost everyone is the moniker "Miners" or some other mining industry name. This, in my opinion, could appease some of the older heads too as well as allowing the heritage and identity of the whole area to blossom and engender a lost sense of pride and community which has otherwise been consigned to the rubbish tip by successive Tory and (more shamefully in my opinion) Labour governments. Apologies I digress!

That will come as a shock to many Steady but you are right.
