Quote: cool4kats "come on you lot, get a grip. we lost by one try away with half a team out. new half backs and a few young players filling holes. think we looked a lot better today. think cooke and bj are looking better. nothing will happen overnight but we will get there, and you are right korki was outstanding along with king and murph. see you at hull.
Murph, King & Korki were the few bright notes of the performance. With the exception of Davey who got a bad knock and is probably out for a few weeks now & Gledhill (who is surpassing all our expectations given his lack of experience), all the players in the team today are experienced players and should be able to play much better than that. Even though Cooke & BJ are looking better together, there was no real sign of creativity anywhere on the pitch.

We may have only lost by one try (a big factor in my frustrations with JD) but we were very lucky with the way that Kirmond's try came about and it certainly wasn't created by our team - more that we benefited from a Quins error.

Quins aren't a great side and they didn't play any better than when we played them at the start of the season. The fact that we have gone so far back in our performance levels cannot be ignored and needs to be addressed. You may want to keep your rose tinted glasses on if you want, but as JK has said this week our performances this year are of utmost importance given the franchise applications are considered during next season.

We've gone to so much effort as a club to get a new stadium sorted to satisfy that side of the application, but we now have a very real danger of seeing the on-pitch performances being the deciding factor and right now the performances are attrocious.

I completely agree with you, but we also have to accept that all these kind of players will already be contracted to other clubs. The best we can hope for is some kind of fall-out between a player of this calibre and his club that gives us the chance to step in. Otherwise, it's simply not going to happen. The Charlie Leaeno's of this world are that's left to choose from, and that's not something people can blame the club/board for. They've tried to put an attractive team together, but have ultimately been undone by the players themselves. As I've said before, I have a lot of sympathy for those running the club when this kind of thing happens. All that effort for nothing. I'm sure they're gutted too.

Bit like Brough was and Tronc.

But it doesnt seem to stop over clubs getting the players they want.

Thats where i disagree.
The club were well aware of the situation with Brough well before the season started and had no contingency plan. The club sold Brough, our most creative ,inventive and valuable player --- nobody forced them to.And the fact they choose to conduct this transaction in the early stages of the season was beyond a joke.

TBH ,i get bored of people constantly defending the club/board and claiming were the victims and its never the boards fault.

Brough,Tronc,Southernwood, all departed - The club wont accept any blame.

Brough transfer deal -- Cracking deal that was - some amount of money and a player recovering from injury on loan,oh and Korki as well. But the club would have us believe it was a cracking deal!!!!!

Our club have been blaming others for years and never accept responsibility when they cock up.Even going back to the dark days of the CVA,the board tried to blame it all on Pearman for getting us into a financial mess --- had the club never heard of due diligence.

The truth is,the club have money to spend, but as always will hide behind the reasoning that their is no one "available" of the right quality to sign, and the money will just disappear down the plug hole, pretty much like our season will do.

I can't stand the burden of guilt any longer.
It's all my fault...... well, nearly.
Newton was his own decision and his alone.
Tronc was clearly the fault of Sandal Cat. icon_evil.gif
but everything else...

After the Leeds game I used a pic of Brough as my desktop background, it also helped scare the kids away from my laptop. Result = he leaves

Changed the background to pics of the stadium plans. Result = sudden rush of objections.

After 5 years of trying, finally got an internet connection (of sorts) in the house so that I can follow live scores and attempt to listen to the radio. Result = not won a game since.

Booked a ticket for Wembley and a flight to the UK in time for the semis. Result = knocked out in the first round.

At least there'll be only one home game to endure after I get back on 27th July icon_eek.gif

I've already doused myself in petrol and await my inevitable fate icon_wink.gif

In all seriousness though. I know it looks bleak at the moment, and it's fans' job to overreact to results, but we really only need 7 wins out of 16 to get in the top 8. We may have a lean month or so with the injuries and awaiting a possible additional prop, but I still think that's achievable icon_smile.gif and as a minimal target, finishing above cassss would do me now icon_cool.gif

Yes mate its tough and it just goes round in circles but you won't walk away, its in your blood. Stiff upper lip and get on with it.

never felt so bad after watching trin, its getting where its upsetting me going. we were poor in that first half yesterday,no idea at all. the middle looks quite secure but out wide same old story teams can go through at will its pathetic and its not improving. i wouldnt mind losing if we played some decent stuff but its dull, dull, dull. unless we get a sugar daddy, then im resigned to the fact we are NEVER going to win anything again but entertainment this is not.

Quote: TURFEDOUT "Had the club never heard of due diligence.'"

Now that's a good one - and perhaps the club could / should have kept the lid on Pearman more at the time, but that's not going to change the current situation, is it? icon_confused.gif

You are giving the club stick for the sale of Brough. At the time they still had hopes of getting Danny to sign a new deal - he didn't / wouldn't (probably because he'd already agreed to go elsewhere), so the club scouted around for the best available resource, identified that in Cooke and brought him to the club.

At the same time the only 'saleable' part of the deal was the balance of Danny's contract - around 6 month - and, given the poor financial position we were / are in, it was felt - on balance - that it was better to have the cash now, rather than a promise of nothing for tomorrow. I guarantee that over 95% of us would have done the same deal with full knowledge of the circumstances.

JK's job now is to make a side out of what we have got. Some may say it's the sow's ear, but I don't buy it. I think we are taking time to adapt and that in the meantime we are playing without confidence. When a side loses confidence they miss tackles; take wrong decisions and generally exert a negative body language, but this is not time to throw the baby out with the bath water. The club are looking at all available options - they had an option on a well known forward, only to be frustrated by the requirement for visa's (despite him already playing in SL) - but we are now at the stage when recruitment is underway for next season, never mind this, so we may just have to be patient.

As we've seen with both Quins and Salford, it is possible to pull yourselves together. I maintain that we have better squads than both of those 2, plus Cas / Crusaders. We are also on a par with HKR and Catalans - so I still see us in a battle for 8th - once we find confidence and form once more.

Oh, and as for the Stadium issue - it's simple - we get a stadium and the rest is worth working on - we don't, and it won't matter what else we're doing. That's not to say that I don't agree that we need to look after the playing side - I've always advocated the fact that there is no point in building a stadium if we don't build the club sufficiently to fit it, but the first focus - and probably the one that has 'distracted' some at the club - is the stadium, and time will prove that this is the right focus for the club in the long term! icon_wink.gif

Quote: TRB "Now that's a good one - and perhaps the club could / should have kept the lid on Pearman more at the time, but that's not going to change the current situation, is it?
You seem to feel very happy that as supporters we have been conned - we must have money available to spend after losing 3 of our higher earners, and you defending it saying we cant use some of that free cash is rubbish - as with all businesses we should have done C.F.F's for this season which would include these 3 players wages which no means this should be free cash to use.

The reason as fans we should feel conned is that season tickets would have been sold on the fact we had players like Tronc and Newton coming in and that we had one of the best players in the country with Broughy. Now that Brough and Newton have gone we are playing mind numbing rugby which in all honesty is boring and without the likes of Tronc up front we have no forward drive. So the money I spent on buying my season ticket to watch these 3 players has made me feel like I have been robbed as the club do not seem interested in trying to find a creative player so for the rest of the year it will be the same boring running it up from the play the ball.

I think and have said for a few weeks now that why not try a 7 that is playing in the championship - at worst we would be taking a punt on a player that would try and have some creative instinct.
