Most surprising gig I ever went to was The Clash in 1981 or 1982, as they were supported by a band I'd never heard of called Theatre of Hate, and they were loads better than The Clash.
First gig I ever went to was Madness in 1980, which was not only good for the main band, but the support band was an unknown (over here) American band called The Go-Gos, who I'm sure you know were fronted by Belinda Carlisle. I remember that she looked "chunky".'"

Saw Rory Gallagher at Leeds Town Hall not long after tickets were 50p.

She was just boring and, from where I was sat, too bloomin' far away for me to appreciate her finest assets! |
