Yes. We have huge problems with traffic and parents. A lot of our kids are in wheelchairs, seriously disabled and need special access to the school which involves coming into the school car park. This in turn is abused by other parents and leads to all kinds of problems.

| Quote: J.T "The weather was bad but I'm not sure what you are saying people should be allowed to do because of the weather. Mount the kerb? Park on yellow lines? For me that still just makes the whole situation more dangerous especially in the bad weather. No need for a truce it's only a debate!'"
Your missing the bigger issue. I think the broccoli tree has been dismissed as merely a 'bush'.
For what it is worth, I'd forgive an ambulance parking like that in an emergency. Heavy rain? I'd hope an attempt to use that argument when getting a parking ticket rescinded would result in an increased fine and being forced to walk precious little Cinderella to and from school whilst wearing a sandwich board with the slogan 'I am an arrogant tw*t who is doing my child no good by raising them to believe it is accepable to flout the law and needs of wider society purely because it inconveniences me and my own self-centred universe'.

Seems a pretty good punishment to me.

| Quote: chissitt "Unbelievable, I live 100 yards from an infants junior school and every day I cannot get either in or out of my drive because of people parked across it whose only excuse is I have to park somewhere. I am not an unreasonable person and I am easy to dance with and dont bother as a rule but when I need to get out and I insist on them moving according to you I am causing trouble. (needs must as we both have jobs further away for public transport another o/t ) to easy the amount on the street, now we get every tom dick and harry parking and blocking the full drive, we have learned where they are likely to be and just ask them for access, but I can imagine the hassle you get daily and wouldn't live near a school for a gold pig

| Quote: danielcat "you talk sense. I did say people should park accross drives. Parking slightly on pavements allows ONE car to pass through as opposed to no pedestrian with a pram being able to pass through. We are now told that parking at the side of the drive obscures the view of residents
but who gives a toss so long as we get our kids to school.
Read the reply carefully and you are right I am an ars*hole!!!'"
Edited for Accuracy.
Next time you take your kids to school call in and ask them to learn you some manners. Its fairly obvious you have got o levels in rudeness, there is no call for it. I put it down to the education system its clear that your teachers at school did not go a bundle on job satisfaction.

1] Eh? It is my own as far as I'm concerned. Opinions, welcome to hold em and share em, but in this case I'm siding with the LAW. Incidentally, in my experience of living near schools, private education suffers it worse. QEGS etc was a nightmare to live near. Then again, that's a different debate.
2] No real experience of traffic management, no, other than 6 months in a consult civil engineers' office which specialised in traffic design systems. Admittedly, I had the Quadrophenia post boy job, but it taught me that even the experts struggle. That's why I'd happily defer to the LAW (see 1)
3] Enough now. Got to go to bed. Up early you see, I find beating the traffic and getting a nice space in a perfectly legal car park solves all the problems.

| Quote: snowie "where I live parking has become very difficult and can relate to the cars blocking your drive way, it got that bad that I fully block paved our drive to enable us to get both cars on the drive
I dont mind them parking there snowie. Some have come from the other side of the village and have young babies in the car. What got up my nose was that poster saying that the locals were not happy unless they are causing trouble for them parking. If I am waiting to get out then I can wait a couple of minutes but if I cant get in where am I supposed to park in the meantime. And fwiw I have always been against parking on the pavement.

| Ok guys - considered just closing this one, but there is some 'interesting' debate - if only you can keep the insults out. One more and it's gone - and you run the risk of taking a rest.
I'm sure you can continue - minus the silly stuff!

| Quote: i8no-one "did I say any of that ? NO I used a word called discrestion, and it has nothing to do with schools FFS. I responded to a comment about traffic wardens pal, nothing more, so do not take my comment, and twist it to something that suits.'"
Discrestion I agree with but schools generally get a warning about parking after complaints parents are informed if they dont heed the warning then suffer the consequences, they should use their discretion and heed the warnings thats my point pal.
