| Quote: newgroundb4cas "over the hill best days have gone and he will get quite a big wage poor business! Hope Drew stays after the last few games he has showed he could go another 2 years. Hes got a far better brain than Terry and if some of our lads read him better we would get more trys, the gaps Drew creates are great. Top quality player and he is happy at us now, so hope he signs!'"
Yet another mindblowingly analysis. Bet you said that about Drew when we signed him. Newton - different player for a different job. Maybe his job will be to protect a certain young 18 year old Academy starlet who may cement his place next season - can you guess who I mean?

| Id be happy for Davey to learn his trade under Newton. I'd also be happy for him to learn it under Drew. Win win either way for me. Could end up that he learns it under someone else as nothing is concrete either way.

| Very interesting and considering some of our bright prospects on the verge of signing on full time with us next year, they're gonna need someone of Terry's experience to look up to.

Are you joking???
Hes a player everyone hates apart from when hes on your team, Id much rather him be playing for us than against us. If true would be a good replacement for Drew if he leaves.

"Missunderstod, ref's give hard times".
"Players just run into his forearms"
etcetera, etcetera,

| Will Newton get away with his style of play when he's not playing for a "high profile" club? I somehow doubt it. Might as well re-sign Marchy for mine.

Newton did get a chance in the GB shirt but didn't hold on to it, he's not my favorite player and memories of him poleaxing Deacon stands well in my mind,
but he could be the type of player we need he does put him self about, we will have to wait for the official announcement to know what length of contract he has before we can judge his commitment to the club at the age of 30 he may see his time here

| If we accept that we can't afford a top player at his peak (or wouldn't attract one), we have four choices:
1. Grow our own
2. Recruit from the lower leagues and hope they seize the chance (think Blaymire, Wilkes, etc)
3. Go down under
4. Get a top player past their peak.
Option 4 is always the riskiest option, as it is probably the most expensive. Newton would not be a gamble for me. Newton is a good player because he is competitive, and would probably be willing to break your arm to get to the last tin of beans in Asda. That's what drives him, and you don't lose that, and he would do well here.
Recruitment wise though, a Lee Gilmour is what we need, not a hooker.

| We do look to have some good kids coming through at the moment but look terribly short in the threequarters for next season ...

with all due respect to Drew I for one would not even offer him a new deal at 34 years old 35 next season
Newton is just a cheap shot thug I dont want him anywhere near Belle Vue next season barr the one game when we have to play against him
