| Quote Uptoncat="Uptoncat"This year yes I agree we need players to do a job for us. However for me we need to be starting to look toward the future from 2024 onward. It’ll take some rebuilding so I get some players do need to be retained but our problem is there’s too many older lads in the squad. Hope we keep Franco then add another young speedy winger to the squad. Possibly keep Kershaw as back up after Kay but I don’t really rate him. Two good centres needed a good half back next year and another one the year after. If anyone comes in for Lino let him go he’s certainly not the answer. If we can keep our existing props I’d be fine with that. Been heavily critical of renouf this season and rightly so imo but he’s improving with big Dave by his side and has shown us there’s a player in there, need him to carry that in after Dave goes. A good 13 would be a nice addition but I don’t think that will be 2024 with the amount of back row forwards we have under contract especially if we stay up with Kelepi still being under contract. I’d like to see dagger retained and fight it out with max for the one shirt or get a prolonged shot at halfback with Gale. Harvey Smith needs to be offered a long term deal with appearance incentives that trigger pay rises and bonuses. I’d offer Croft one more year but it would be make or break for him and I like the look of Law who could well be ready to replace him soon. A lot of wheeling and dealing to be done and for consistency and fluency it can’t all be done at once. I’d also look at bringing Hooley in from Leeds. He’s not getting a shot and it looks like they’re on the lookout for a new fullback for next year. He knows the place and has quality written all over him. He could well overtake max at the back which would leave dagger in the halves as stated earlier.'"
and someone with the nous to be able to do all of that and more

And the money. If we stay up we have a lot of people on contract so can't just randomly bring new ones in.

| I always find it interesting to see how our former players perform with better players around them. I never had any doubts that TJ and Batchelor would be better for it however with regards Crowther I must admit he never impressed me . I accept he is basically a good club man but I always thought he lacked any creativity to play at number 13. I would never have believed he would have been the type of player Warrington needed but maybe he will thrive with lacked better players around him. It certainly will be interesting to see how he goes for the rest of the season.

| Is Batchelor better at Hull KR?
TJ is clearly getting better rehab/fitness advice and opportunities with the ball. I hope he gets top try scorer.
Batch is still good. But I can't see that he's better than he was with us.

| I feel circumstances have dictated this rather than it being a reflection on Jordan or his character.
If it wasn’t a direct shoot out between us and the team he was going to next year then I doubt he leaves.
As it is though it’s awkward especially coming into a crucial part of the season.
I’m not questioning his character but in a team dynamic it’s bound to generate a few whispers and put him under the microscope.
It makes perfect sense for both parties to shake hands and walk away amicably removing any external or internal pressures on the situation.
Who knows, we may see him back with us next year if Cas drop and we stay up.

| IF we stay up and Cas go down, then JC has made his bed. Same with Miller, don’t want to see him back here.

Slightly different though.
Miller chose to go there when we wanted him to stay.
Crowther wasn't in our plans so had to look at offers.

| Always found him a decent and pleasant lad to chat when I have had the chance, so he goes with my best wishes for the future. Never let us down in a Trinity shirt either.

I think your not giving Wakey any credit for the rehab they put into TJ before he left, he went fitter than he had been for a long time.
Agree about Batch

| I liked Crowther, but understand under the circumstances why he had to go.
Didn't we once take a Warrington player in similar circumstances can't quite remember.

TJ is no better than he was here. He was top of try scorer charts a few times before injury in a couple of seasons. Also he has always been a big meter maker.
It’s just he’s more media attention and getting the service. He’s changed games for trinity on numerous occasions and we made him what he is today.
