Bearing in mind Child hammered us in the first half and we could have gone in at ht only 12 6 behind (but for Walton's error), he may be more to blame than you think.
I'm still not sure where the supposed push was when Lyne picked up the loose ball with an open field in front of him but, play was called back and Cas given a penalty.
We weren't good and lacked go forward but Child was awful

Well if we're talking woulda, shoulda, coulda, then you first try came about from questionable decisions too. You get a repeat set after kicking the ball at a guy's crotch which is classed as 'played at', extra set of six, and you score. Swings and roundabouts and all that.

| Quote: DAVE@CAS1990 "you often find that when a team gets beat by 34 points, they concede more penalties than the other.
Wakefield were on the back for for 75% of the match so will inevitably concede more penalites. Their discipline was poor in general, be it infringements, handling errors or last tackle plays.
Unless by saying "37 penalties" you're suggesting the ref is to blame... Child is very petty and I'd be the last to defend him, a couple of shoulder charge penalties went against you that I didn't see as I was watching the play develop.
I don't think Mr Child had a bearing on the result yesterday though'"
The result was not in question after the first score in the second half, so pretty much everything after that is irrelevant. But key decisions while the game was still a contest definitely went Cas's way. The main one was the shoulder penalty when Lyne and BJB broke clear, which would have been 12-6 to wakey that turned into 12-6 to Cas. I followed the play as well so did not see whether the call was correct or not but that was a very key decision.
according to BS interview we only got 5 pens and three were on the first tackle (probably deliberate)and one was for kicking out on the full.

| The problem against Hull KR will again be their superior half backs, Blair and Kelly. It will be interesting how we cope, Mellor and Brown, Gale and Roberts it doesn`t get any easier. I think in the old days the tactic would be to make sure Kelly does not finish the game.

However Chris Chester is hoping Finn remains on the pitch for the full 80 minutes

Unfortunately there are too many cameras at a game these days. I must admit I do miss a bit of old school rugby league.

| We are lacking the ability to create an overlap or space be it down to the quality on the field or the coaching off it. I don't know, plus our habitual problem of not having an off load game which in itself can create space. When we try which is not that often we usually are not ready and drop the ball.
I would be interested in what our stats are for offloads compared to the rest of SL.

To be fair we need someone to off load too, England made a few breaks looking for the offload but no support, so he ended up having to take it in and go to ground,,
But agree with our attacking options and creativity as non existent ,

That could've been that Cas were just more disciplined?
I think it's hard to look at a one-sided penalty count and just assume that the ref has hammered one team and let the other get away with everything
If Wakefield earnt a penalty on the first tackle what's the ref supposed to do? Let them go 3/4 more before giving it?
Perhaps the push in the first half was a key point in the first half, but is that to say it was the wrong decision? Like I said - I can't say either way.
I think BS has put a lot of emphasis on the decisions in a lot of his post match interviews to protect the players really - to come out after 2 games and say "we lost everywhere on the field" would be fairly detrimental to the cause. It's much more sensible to say "we were beaten by a side playing well and key decisions going against us". Which is quite smart, as it is not the same as saying the ref got it wrong...
FWIW I think Wakefield will get better and better, although perhaps the boxing day friendly has given some fans a false marker as to where the team really are.
That being said, god knows where Leeds are....

Apparently we have the 3rd highest offloads according to the super league website. We are also not top of the penalty count. So maybe our players and structures are poop.
We do have the lowest metres per carry and the lowest amount of clean breaks whilst being quite high in the amount of tackles we've had to make. This suggests to me an application problem rather than anything else. When I watch our players run with the ball I only see determination and tenacity from a select few i.e. annakin, simon, england - 2 of whom haven't been playing. A lot of the others seem to get put on their harris faster than you can say 'tackled'. No surprise that England is leading the metres made and tackle busts - its because when he runs a ball in he does it like he means it. The same can't be said for a lot of the others.
I actually think the defense has improved. I've seen enough in the friendlies and against Widnes to suggest that. I think with ball in hand we seem to have a lot of problems in both guile and creativity.

| Think it's essential that Trinity's best two props -England and Simon start against KR and the bench has a couple of genuine props on it plus Tupou and Sio...early to suggest team is poop but the KR is a must win...
KR are decimated with injuries and Trinity are near to full strength...this Sunday will be the big indicator..
