Cas may have had an idea already, and like you Bazzo i hope the info is duff and he plays.
Failing that i'd love to see young Maskill thrown into this game and given the oppo to shine that Anakin has been given and taken with both hands.
With the others we have seen what they can offer to the team, Maskill AFAIK is an out an out hooker with good lineage, so maybe this is the test he needs.
Cometh the hour...... if he's good enough...... sink or swim etc etc etc'"
Good man, lets hope mate

As I said before he looked the part against Hemel - more so than some of the regular first teamers so I'd be willing to give him a go against SL opposition to see if he is ready (or even close to it).
Put him in but just make sure that we have other options available to switch players round if it doesn't work out. I wouldn't start Washy at 9 but if Maskill starts and he isn't playing well then you can switch him to there and put someone else to 13.

| It was interesting to see the young players being given a shot in the Leeds V Saints game on Monday night - 2 or 3 for Saints including Percival and the young forward who scored a great try, and for Leeds the 18 yr old former Hunslet Warriors player who didn't let himself down. That turned out to be the most entertaining televised game of the season thus far.
#justsaying, as I believe the Twitterati say.

| I was on here when you played Hemel, I came to watch and thought Maskill deserved his shot - and there's no better time than this.
I'm sure he will give Dickie Agar some selection issues for whenn Aiton is fit (assuming he isn't)
Bearng in mind you're only playing against us - we can't win an each way bet on the boat race.
No doubt we will score 26ish points, that will happen, but you yourselves will score 6/7/8 tries yourselves quite easily.
Worrying about playing Cas tells me all I need to know about your top 8 aspirations
....Cas are trying to make the eight though. As in, eight points for the season...

I also reckon that there will be other dafter suggestions for hooker before the thread has run its course.'"
It's not that Cockayne couldn't give it a go he probably would but it's the wrong answer and not guaranteed to be the right one. My main argument is he is in the England train on squad as a Winger because thats what he is really good at - why take a player who is so good at that position and play him somewhere else where he may or may not work. I know why people like the idea because he is a busy player who makes lots of yard from the ruck - however a good amount of that is out wide whilst at hooker it's all up the middle. Also I've seen nothing to suggest he is a distributer of the ball.
I think you're right, if there was no genuine hooker available then maybe but it would lose us so much out wide it would negate the value for me.

| but yes, if fit, Maskill would be my choice. To be honest, when you beat us down Cas, Aiton didn't really have a good game.
"the smiths" and cockayne stood out that day

As i said a total gamble.
Our season is sinking quicker than the titanic and too often we dont look at all fired up for a battle..........take Salford and HKR as prime examples.
When Cockayne played a more central/pivotal role he tended to "aggravate/wind up" the opposition.
His scoots would make good yardage, something we dont see from Aiton.
I think we should be looking for something that could change the way we are shaping up and offer a different dimension to what Aiton brings.

If we didn't have Aiton in the middle tackling like a machine we'd probably be conceding a greater points average. He is one of the top tacklers in Super League at present.

Sorry to disagree BUT we have seen Aiton doing a lot more "scoots" this season.

This^^^
He has looked far more like an international, nrl level hooker this season.
We need him back if fit.
