Your new Chairman seems to have the right idea, maybe coming down in the Championship (not NATIONAL LEAGUE!) will do you the world of good. Gives you chance to re-assess the whole club from top to bottom, improve your facilities. Re-create a good structure from 15's > 1st Team (clear pathway).

We haven't won the league or grand final as we didn't throw all our money at the first team as we were busy meeting super league criteria, therefore we spent our money on a youth system aswell as our first team, clearly to the detriment of the first team, sad I know but that's what we had to do to achieve super league. maybe if Halifax had understood this they may have achieved sl next season. any hoot hope all works well for wakey, always enjoyed trips to your place.

I have sympathy for any team that doesn't finish bottom yet gets 'relegated' and also for any team that wins the league but doesn't get promoted. A sad day when off field matters mean more than those on the field.

Takes a special person to come up with that set of conclusions - quite hilarious when you consider we are being replaced by a club that itself went into administration whilst failing on a monumental level to make any impression on SL the last time they were there. Or being sacrificed for a Welshish club that will fail within 18 month and offers the game nothing like what we do. Maybe we are not he only ones who need to look at the whole picture.

Quite right. The RFL started the licence game and indeed the SL clubs voted for it. Don't forget Wakefield stayed in SL under that system when they did not have the criteria to satisfy that the Championship Clubs had.

Widnes satisfies that criteria better than quite a few of the SL Clubs. Wakefield had their chance to improve their facilities over quite a few seasons, but didn't, and now it appears a bit too late. Pity really that a club with a great history and some great past players might lose out to clubs like Crusaders, Catalans and Quins.

You will know how us Widnesians felt when we were dumped in favour of a team that was a hotchpotch mix of players rather than a homegrown team, if you lose out.

Personally, I think Crusaders should get the chop, though I think Red Hall may not want to do so..

The right to be in SL due to never finishing bottom - it's an old fashioned concept I know but then I don't suppose it suits your argument does it. Remind me when Widnes last did that?

It's funny that John Kear is now saying as you haven't ended up bottom of the League, you shouldn't be relegated.
