| Quote: HouriganTiger "I can't believe my eyes....John Kear is the ONLY reason Wakey have not been lost to the RL wilderness!! cats your minds back to 2006 and you were as good as relegated when he took over...you know the rest!
even the most hardent tinted specky wakey fan can not honnestly say they believed the club would have survived relegation and i believe you'd be mixing it with York and Keighley now had it not been for that man.
Wakey supporters (like some other teams) are very deluded. you do not have the fan base to finance a fanatasy team and JK has to wheel and deal to make a side that to be honnest over achieves year on year. hence why it's a good job RL is not played on paper for Wakey!!
I do admit that your team does appear to fade out towards the end of each seaosn and i believe this is because JK knows to get the points racked up to keep wakey's season alive you need to hit the ground sprinting at the begining of the season and take the two points against sides that prepare for the back end of the season!!
lose JK and i believe wakey will prop the league up until they find their new home in NL1!!'"
Don't forget the year we stayed up it wasn't entirely in our hands!

simpsons/simp019.gif We put this festival on you ba****ds

| Quote: Big Cat "Quite right Hourigan and a recent Poll suggested that most of the wakey fans can see this as cleary as you can - unfortunately we have some fans like Mopsey who persist with similar threads everytime we lose. Kear is our only creditibility with the RFL, without him our figurehead is Ted Rcihardson - say no more.'"
Out of interest, how many years of stagnation (at best) under-acheiving (at worst) would it take before we have repaid the debt to Kear?
Don't think anybody argues that he was instrumental in keeping us in the league, and each fan should be grateful for what he has done for the club (I know I am) - but we don't go on repaying this for ever and ever in my opinion.

Lives in Wakefield too, kids go to school in Horbury, often seen at Belle Vue etc.

| The fact that these posts slowed down after the Hull win and then picked up after the Cas loss, just shows how shallow and ill thought through the "Kear Out" threads are.
The team simply let a game that was going our way slip away because a) we made a few errors and b) they stopped making theirs. Could easily have been the other way.
It strikes me Mopsey that you can't possibly have ever played sport yourself, even at school. These things happen. You can't just win every game. It doesn't work that way. Nor does it mean that when you lose a game everybody who played was rubbish. Sometimes luck doesn't go your way. Sometimes the other team are just better on the day. It is very rarely that the team or any individual can't be bothered as is usually the reason people gravitate towards on these types of forums.
The "I've had enough crowd" and the "that's the last straw crowd" seem to simply enjoy the moaning. If you were seriously upset and wanted to not watch Wakefield (which of course is your right to do so), you wouldn't be bothered to come on here and moan about it either. It just seems you want to bring everybody else down too.
There may be some players going at the end of the season (and 1 that is going that should have another year in my opinion) but Kear must still be here. He is why we are aiming for the 8 rather than fighting with Catalan for bottom spot.

A lot more than just one season with specific player reasons why we have had a down turn.

So what you are saying is Willie is a nice guy who was a decent player but has no head coach experience.
Yep, can't see why we wouldn't want to emply him.

That's right. I saw him at Belle Vue a few weeks ago on the terraces, in his [sizeRhinos[/size cap. Decent bloke, and friendly, but you need more than niceness to be a good coach.

Players who Kear bought, no? (I assume Kear is still in overall controll of player recruitment - but stand to be corrected if this is not the case).

| I think it's the manner of the defeats that have been the most alarming. I've lost count of the number of teams that have put 40 points plus on us. As soon as the opposition get more than 6 points ahead of us, heads seem to go down and we implode.
Unlikely as it seems now I wouldn't be entirely surprised if we perform against saints (however we'll almost certainly get tonked by shudds the week after).
If it's true JK applied for the Bulls job - we should let him go. Can't be doing much for the players motivation if the coach is desperate for another job.

I don't see your arguement. Just because he decided to recruit Brough, Tronc and Newton does not mean it is his fault it turned out like it did.
Brough, we got our moneys worth.
Newton, he didn't exactly tell anyone what he was doing. How was Kear to know.
Tronc, was a good signing and his success in SL and then back down under shows he was a good player. As has been discussed, there are a few reasons why he left, but none of them are, couldn't get on with coach or players, so again, how was he to know.
He should be judged on his talent as a coach, and in that area, he has improved players that were regarded as nobodies elsewhere an made a good team out of them. Now with a broken team we are only just off the pace and may well get back into it yet.
And overall, his recruitment has been good to a club where it is unlikely the top players will stay because of the money situation. The likes of Morrison would not come here in the first place if not for Kear.

See, this is the problem for me. You can't have it both ways for player recruitment, and praise Kear when it suit yet conveniently bury your head in the sand when things go wrong. It's all or nothing in my opinion, I think its a major double standard.
If you sign a rogue/maverick/missfit/project/cast off (or whatever else you want to call them, but you know what I mean) and the gamble works you can't fairly take the praise if you are not willing to shoulder the blame when you your prize scrum half (who has a history of volatile behaviour combined with what appears to be huge financial problems) sods off for more money elsewhere becuase he is skint (apparently).
You can't take the praise when you sign a player with disciplinary problems from a lower league club and make progress with him (Moore) but shug your shoulders when the loose cannon with disciplinary problems and a history of doing stupid things (Newton) turns out to do a stupid thing. You can't take the praise for having a hand in turning a NL1 standard winger from York into a player wanted by other clubs and getting international honours but then stick your fingers in your ears and pretend its not happening when you sign a tempremental and controversial half back with a record of fitness problems and off field disciplinary issues that turns out to be just that.
Reference Tronc, wasn't there a rumour nocking around that he had pulled the old "homesick" card before? Granted its just a rumour, but hey ho.
If the guys responsible for player recruitment don't do their homework reference player recruitment who does? For every Morrison, Moore or Fox there is Riley / Cooke/ winterstain / Newton balancing it out and then some.
Ultimately Kear will sink or swim according to his signings and subsequently there performance on the pitch - and we have played well twice since Easter by my recconing - simply not good enough in my view.

| Ok, you make a fair point there, but that still only makes it a break even at worsed. Newton and Tronc went wrong but Brough was good long enough to say Kear made a good decision.
The problem he has is that he develops lower level players and makes them better, but as a club we can't keep them when they have a higher profile once they've improved. Like Snitch and Wilkes and even Atkins.
So I agree with what you say, I think I just see more successes than you do. Just a different view, not head in sand.

| Hes a gash coach with out- dated methods and ive been saying it for months.
We should of got rid to Catalans when we had the chance.,because we cant afford now to pay off the remainder of his contract.
Ive heard all the pros and cons, but the buck stops with him.
Garbage performances.
Garbage team selection.
Garbage defense
Garbage ideas and creativity
We also look unfit and slow.
The style of rugby we have been served up with this season shows JK up for his limited coaching ideas.
Yes once upon a time he saved us from relegation, yes once upon a time he could polish a turd player, but im afraid we are getting consistently below average performances from the average players he has at his disposal.
Sorry JK,but the fairytale has turned into a horror story.
Thanks for your efforts and bye bye

| He can only field what the club can afford.
I understand it's frustrating for all of us who are Trinity through & through. Is it JK's fault Brough wanted to go? Is it JK's fault the spineless Tronc wanted to go home for a few more beach BBQ's? Did JK inject Terry with Jonny Vegas drugs to bulk him up?
No.
Rip up all your pre-season, your pivotal players gone and your season is well and truely poop.
Sign inadequate replacements (that were only available at the time and what the club could/can/want to afford) and this is what we're left with. We'll have to stick with it until the end of this season.
There's no doubt there's going to be a lot of player personnel change after this season and let's wait and see what 'calibre' it is.
If, once again, we end up with over-the-hill-end-of-career type of individuals, the fans will make their own mind up.
We're not stupid.....well, some of us aren't.
See you Sunday!
PS - If we're all going Willie Poching crazy, can't he carry the water for us instead of Leeds?
