| wow you dont like jd hey. grix let in a soft try in the first half, but you didnt see that cause you were watching jd so closely. while i agree about the offload to comment about not being a true leader is a joke, based on that performance.
Quote: RDM "To getr back on topic I think Obst, Grix & Blaymire (in no particular order) were more deserving of the MOM than JD.
JD also needs to take a couple of lessons in offloading from Richie Moore - his dreadful attempt late on was half understandable as there was someone fairly close on his shoulder, but given the game situation he should have shown true leadership qualities and taken the tackle. We could have pinned Saints deep in their own half with a couple of minutes to go, but instead let them have a scrum on half way which led to us concedin ground & then a reckless penalty from Korki to give them the late chance to draw the game.
Fine, we'd have stil won the game by 2, but some sensible play from JD would have made it a lot less nervy.'"

Wow, I feel like the oracle of knowledge now.

| Quote: SaintsFan "I didn't actually see what happened. I just saw the ball come out and Stosic go down and stay down. I didn't see Cunningham punch him (I was at the match and it happened at my end of the field). Nothing was put on report. The match continued. However, if something bad happened then the RFL will pick up on it, as they do during their review of all the matches. If Cunningham did throw a punch or in some way deliberately set out to injure Stosic then he deserves what he gets.
However, I'd wait for Wakey club to confirm the injury and the RFL to comment, as rumours do like to grow in the RL world I've found. I wouldn't like Cunningham to be given a rep he doesn't deserve. He isn't a dirty player. A big hitter, but not a dirty player.'"
Obviously didnt see the reply on the big screen then and also took your eye off the game at that time, I was at that end too, (behind the sticks) and quite clearly saw it.

Think you may find it was Snitch that gave the penalty away.

Think you may find it was Pryce who conned the ref and tried to cheat Saints into a draw they didn't deserve. Good job Wellens couldn't kick for toffee!

I agree. Sky have hyped up the "Pryce factor" but Korki had his hand on the ball and the ball spilled out. Even if Pryce helped him, he was holding the ball hard enough that when released his arm came out with the ball.
Penalty, plain and simple.

I think if you read my post properly you'll find that I said that JD "should have shown true leadership qualities and taken the tackle" - commenting on one incident rather in isolation rather than on his overall performance. I didn't actually criticise his overall leadership - which for once seemed to be there.
I'm perfectly happy to say that I think that JD is past it & I hope that we can see him go out on a high note this year because I don't think he's got another year at SL level in the tank.

You won't find anyone agreeing more than me that if is the biggest word in the English language & Friday's result was chip paper on Saturday. The future is all that really matters & the simple fact is that JD is not the future. Some have criticised the signing of Newton because "he's too old" but he's 3 years younger than JD.
If JD was with (say) the Bulls now - giving the sort of performance he's given for us over the years - and we were considering signing him for one last hurrah next year, there'd be no end of the posts criticising such a signing. In the era of the salary cap, there is simply no room for giving contracts for sentimental reasons. JD has been a fantastic servant to the club, but we need to have a squad in 2010 that is better than this year's and provides a sound foundation for the squad in 2011 & beyond. I'd love to see JD continuing to be involved with the club - just not as part of the playing staff.

| i'd agree with most of that. think newton is a good signing for next season, along with a few more. sounds like we will have a great pack. and the quality of the team will improve overall, but still think jd would have a part to play on the field and when he does hang his boots up, think brough might make a good captain.
