| Carters initial interest was all about protecting his investment, made under the Glover/Elston regime
His desire to see Trinity survive was fortunately in line with supporters but for wholly different reasons
He was never going to risk putting more money in as it isn’t his raison d’etre
The shoestring budget worked well as a policy to rescue the club, thanks but . .
As a policy for advancement or even maintaining the status quo it’s a disaster
His decision making regards Head Coach retentions and appointments has been awful
His decision making re player recruitment, alongside his favourite Coach, has been ridiculous
IMO he’s now losing/lost interest and is even pragmatic about relegation and the loss of his initial investment
Just as fans can laud him for preventing an insolvency they can blame him for the current state of the clubs prospects

| Hold on. I seem to remember universal acceptance that Willie should get the job after winning the majority of his games last season.
Don't just rewrite history because you are now upset with results.

Who in particular is that aimed at?

| Quote: vastman "That’s all true.
What you don’t seem to take into account in the same way the all the experts on here don’t is options.
He runs a club that has been failing for 40 years, none of it of his making.
He has always made it clear he won’t incur debt both for the club or himself chasing success. He has always been honest about this, something people now seem so happy to ignore as they throw there toys out the pram.
Same people who wouldn’t risk a penny of their own money.
So what options has he had!
He’s attempted to keep real star players and has done so. Yet somehow you expect us to pay those wages and still be able to compliment them with others, get real.
He did manage for a while but our luck has run out and the sooner we accept that the better. We as a club have been burning the candle at both ends and it might now be over.
We’ve lived on scraps for years and MC has done his best with incredibly limited options, I’d love to see anyone on here do better I really would.
Finally there are many on here with incredibly short memories and limitless amounts of ingratitude. When MC leaves he will do something no Trinity CEO has ever done. He may leave the club relegated for now but he won’t leave it broke and pennyless like every other previous owner has.
Relegation is not wanted I agree but without Carters prudence it would have happened before now. And without cutting our cloth now it would have become inevitable.
It’s a simple equation - no new ground developments and the resultant financial rewards then no Trinity in any form not just SL.
Regardless of on field performances the Trinity that started 2022 was already unsustainable in it current set up. Without them we would eventually have been relegated but with absolutely zero chance of coming back up or even surviving. We were doomed anyway.
Same will apply to Cas unless they sort it.
The new east and north stands are our saviours not some NRL prop no matter who’s he is.
Fans are not expected to be realistic I accept that but those who run the club are. For that I have total admiration for our BOD even if we are relegated and in truth I fear we will be as I think all our nine lives were spent years ago.'"
Out of curiosity, I wonder how much input he had on decisions when he was on the board between 2011 and before taking over in 2013, especially when it came to the prices of season tickets. Weren't they reduced to something like £150, to make sure we got over the threshold for crowd numbers, as the licensing was around.
Did he speak out or keep quiet?
Looking at the clubs financial statement on companies house, they don't look in that good shape to be honest, and don't look in a much better place than in 2013, when he took over, but I'm no accountant. This is alarming as we do have two running the club

| No your wrong poptart.
I was against an appointment from the old set up, that view was shared by many.
We then had supporters who just thought he was an assistant and should stay one.

And you know this how? Well of course you don’t you’re just another pretender who thinks he knows but he doesn’t.
Carter has been CEO for six years that alone is a half million pound investment seeing as he works for free. Show some dignity.

I rarely agree with Vastman but this is spot on. Personally I’m gutted with the situation we’re in but I’m totally peed off with the know it alls on here passing judgement on Carter and the rest.
This is the nub of the argument - “He (Carter) has always made it clear he won’t incur debt both for the club or himself chasing success. He has always been honest about this, something people now seem so happy to ignore as they throw there toys out the pram.

Absolutely! Time for posters on here to put up or shut up. Stop carping and start supporting.

Really, you should have realised by now that the bulk of Trinity fans on here are self appointed experts without an ounce of gratitude or a penny of there own invested other than a matchday ticket and that wasn’t always the case until MC crushed the parasite brigade.

That’s your take on why people have that view, it has no bearing whatsoever on why I voice what I know about the situation

He actually put exactly that on here himself posting as Daddycool very shortly after he took over, he was quite open about it. He described his investment as his pension that he wanted to try and claw back. Both him and Chris Brereton. Now over time his reasons may well have changed i don’t know but it was by his own admittance why he originally got involved.

He's been at the helm since the end of the 2013 season. I make that 9 years.

| MC has transformed the club off the field but made two errors on it:
1. Stayed too loyal to Chester for too long
2. Appointed Poching
WP didn’t build the squad but the nature of it meant that it was no job for someone who either hasn’t fancied any head coach job in the past or who no one thought was good enough.
Those two decisions will put us back years just at the point the future was looking brighter
