| The Wigan backs looked out of sorts again today, and as we went through the middle, we met your big units there!!.. Made for a dull game, only enlivened, for me, by the crowd baying at the ref for some iffy decisions.
You looked the more energetic ball in hand, thought the result flattered us..
Good luck with the season, always fun to visit Belle Vue

| Quote: The Avenger "John, can I ask you your thoughts on the penalty given against MCB after he beat Escare 1 on 1 and passed to an unmarked team mate 3 metres out for a certain try?
Also, the penalty against BJB for offside after he pinned Marshall down a yard in from the corner flag, that penalty amongst a couple like it allowed Wigan to break Wakefield's grip on the momentum of the match and releive all the pressure on their line.'"
Looked harsh from where I was (in the North Stand) then looked on the screen and whilst it was an insanely tight call I think it was a very good call. I've not rewatched it yet but it looked like Escare caught the ball and landed with it all be it not on his feet. MCB has his hands on him as they hit the ground completing the tackle and pulls the ball free after the tackle was complete to the letter of the law. Millisecond call but probably a right one.
Can't comment about the offside as I was behind the sticks (unlike most others in the North Stand who seem to have unbelievable ability to call offside and forward passes even when the game is being played 10m from the hospitality boxes)
I personally think a draw would have been a fair result but some silly play late in the tackle count was very costly at times for Trinity. I enjoy watching Fafita but he is prone to the odd brain fart, but that is part and parcel of the type of player he is.

| Before the game and even at half time, I honestly thought we were going to win that game but for me it seemed like every time we started to exert any pressure the ref gave them either a penalty or the decision in a 50/50 play. He gave us nothing.
I am gutted that we lost, but to consider that it was Wiggin that we were playing and that we only lost by 6 points shows just how far we have come with this group of players. Once again, the effort was there (superb in defence) but it is just that killer instinct that we lack.
We are missing the mid-field General that we had with Scott Moore and I have to agree that Miller appeared to take all the wrong options today, which obviously didn't help our cause either. We certainly didn't miss Williams, who I think has been a massive let down so far.
If we can tweek a few things for Saturday, then the Warrington game is definitely winnable.

| Miller took a big hit when he clashed with Hadley (who went off)
There was no one to replace Miller so he stuck it out. Arm hanging down for much of second half so although not his best it is understandable.

Wigan also targeted him and Wood in particular throughout running the bigger men straight at him some of the Wigan forwards actively ran out of there way to find both of these guys in particular.
Personally I think given they grant really been starting they did ok. Miller looked more comfortable playing the off the cuff player off Finn.
Wood for me did a lot of the tough stuff but for me he just isn't a "starting hooker". That is the missing player at the moment for me which has probably been born out of the Moore situation.

| Valid point PT...had forgotten about that, I'll cut him a bit of slack for today then, but we all know that our half-backs are not the most creative in the League and need to start creating some tries. This could be the difference between top 8 and Middle 8's come the end of the season.

| I think the team was no better than Friday, they were just up against weaker opposition hence the damage wasn't as severe.
It was the same poor decision making and blunted attack with a bit of iffy reffin thrown in.
Don't think the reffing really made much of a difference, our form of only a few games ago would have made that irrelevant.
Can't take anything away from Wigan they're running on fumes at the moment, it was a gritty hard yards performance from them, they're not looking like champs though.
We have to tie in these key positions 6 7 9, Grix is doing his job well but having to fill in the f-ups too much.
I gotta say, we looked jaded, but that's a 3 day turnaround for you.
Warrington next, they've got fire in their bellys, and they're line speed junkies, that's where it'll be won or lost.
I don't really wanna be talking about defense, but with key attacking positions misfiring, defense has to win the game...

| Stayed up to watch the game this morning ... ended at almost 2 am and now I'm on the train at 545 heading to Sydney....
But I'm glad I did... it was s great game ... guts, spirit, skill, luck and the inevitable bits and bobs from the officials... every aspect of the game was so even... and it just took a smidgin of luck for Wigan to take the spoils. Great defensive performance ... but so was Wigans!
In all honesty a draw would have been a fair result as both sides deserved massive credit for that level of performance.
If I were to offer one observation it would be in the role of hooker ... Wood needs to be more aggressive we are still attacking a yard of so too deep ... from acting half back that is...and he never supports the player with the ball either actively looking for the offload or stopping our tackles player being pushed back!
He still plays like a scrum half rather than s hooker!.... but that's a minor gripe about a very entertaining game!

| Going to be tough to get anything from Warrington game on Saturday. Ashurst and Algood will be missing plus I suspect Hadley as well

| The players and coaching staff were confident of top 6 and there are were a lot of talk following Widnes win that we could make top 6.
The mention of Grix in attack baffles me. He links up well and looks the most creative in the side at the moment with Finn.

Top six is still achievable, we're not too far behind and if we can start to pick up wins again and other results go in our favour we could find ourselves in the top 6, were on track to finish on around 22-24 points after 23rds so I'm happy with where we are. I like Grix, but he does favour the right hand side and leaves the left a bit neglected
