| In defence of a good mate in Snowie, how much do you think it would have cost MC and Co,just to get the ground to an acceptable level if we'd used contractors for the work and time involved,a lot more than nowt I believe.

I thought Glover wrote off over £1.5 Million of his own money. I assume that would have paid for installation of the roofs.

How much of other people's money did he write off by not paying bills?

Come off it, Dewsbury's round is ten times better than BV especially now there is terracing at the ends.

| Quote Wollo-Wollo-Wollo-Wayoo="Wollo-Wollo-Wollo-Wayoo"With hindsight, mortgaging the ground must go down as the worst move of the last 20 years or so.'"
Bit like now there wasn't a choice.
The RFL had set stringent requirements to reach franchise standards (yep remember yet another damaging and short lived RFL white elephant). The club needed a cash injection to meet them and we had pre crash Thornes Park promised to us. It was a gamble we had to take as SL survival was and still is IMHO paramount. It was a calculated gamble we had no choice but to take. We were strung out to dry by the Council and the RFL. The Council renaged and continues to do so. The RFL brought in the franchise which IMHO was good but then dropped it to suit themselves leaving us in limbo having sold the family silver to pay for stuff a year later we didn't need.
Ted made errors but was generally a victim. Also worth noting that the club had sold the ground before and it was Ted who got it back so it wasn't the first time. Sadly this club has been run badly since the 1960's maybe even before and we have inherited the mess with none of the glory.

| I guess the problem is that your average supporter and even more so would be supporters don't care about which chairman is responsible for what or about balancing books/stabilising the club. They just look at what is happening on the field and how much it costs to watch and make a decision based on wether it is worth it. Unfortunately for Carter he is following 2 chairman who took risks and at times created excitement and interest in the club through whatever means. Carter is now left presiding over some of the worst performances in front of our lowest crowds paying the highest prices and there are only a couple of thousand left of us that seem to care.

Maybe he reached his limit of what he was prepared to lose I can hardly blame him for not wanting to throw more money down the black hole. His biggest mistake of course was giving that clown Elston the control of the money. Has anyone ever put in such an amount of his own cash as what Glover has. In 30 years of watching us I don't recall it.

I think Carter has to take some blame for letting "top blokes" Agar and Webster hang around too long. That directly lead to a terrible product on the pitch, so bad the best marketing in world wouldn't at add a few hundred on our crowds. That said he looks to be thankfully going in the right direction now.

Truth is you have to be able to do all those things and as yet we have not had a chairman capable of that. Problem is for any CEO to run a club like Wakefield there is no way around the fact that you need deep pockets and a willingness to dig into them.
Ted didn't have the cad and he didn't have the flair but he did have commitment.
Glover had flair and splashed some cash but basically didn't have the desire - he treated the club as a toy and neglected the detail.
Carter to me is a caretaker - if he has flair it's well hidden (flair doesn't always cost money) ditto cash.
If ever Trinity needed the legendary White Knight who's lurking out there it's now!

Elston now works for Glover in his window business?
Glover can't think he's that much of a clown.
