| Quote: The Avenger "Tour de France is a huge event and I'm happy to see Yorkshire host huge events however, it is overhyped beyond all recognition, same as RU events where the occasion is huge, media attention massive and an event that celebs like to be seen at but the sporting fare is dire and doesn't deserve all of the above.
RL is exactly the polar opposite!'"
Maybe so but there's Wimbledon and Formula 1 on TV at present but I've had the cycling on in the room whilst I get on with some work stuff. Must be the nice Yorkshire scenery.

| It's folly to dismiss the TdF; it's one of the biggest events in the sporting calendar and has millions of fans the world over. A million people turned out to watch the Grand Departe yesterday and I'd imagine there'll be a similar number today - it's huge and dwarfs RL in terms of popularity!

I'm not disputing that but it's a big group of blokes wearing lycra on bikes and riding through the streets!
What's the big attraction

It's a group of gimlet eyed, heavily tattooed doormen knocking the e out of each other in a.n other mining town in the North of England; what's the big attraction?
Horses for courses I guess; personally, I'm a big fan of cycling and despite all the controversy that has surrounded the sport, the athleticism involved in riding the TdF is nothing short of superhuman. Not to mention the heroic marketing effort that has meant this one weekend of cycling has done more for the image of Yorkshire than several decades of RL ever has; get that man signed up, before someone else does.

| I'm a big fan of sport full stop.
Tour De France is a world event in sport and for once it's in Yorkshire.
It's bound to get the attention whether you like cycling or not.

| Never been a particularly great fan of cycling but you have to respect the participants endurance levels and the whole event will have done wonders for the Yorkshire economy both now and for a long time to come. I've enjoyed keeping an eye on it and having been up in some of those North Yorkshire towns and villages just early last week it is great to see how the communities have come together as one to promote the event and make it a fantastic occaision.

| It's a great pity the cyclists we're all familiar with are the ones that run red lights, ride on the pavements and don't have any lights on after dark.

| No matter what you think about cycling and cyclist, Can somebody slagging off the TdF explain how it can possibly be responsible for the low attendance at BV on Friday night

| Getting back on topic, chanting (foul or otherwise) will never be stopped by any club. They can't evict half a stand for singing, so why not work on the following basis:
1. If you like the chant, join in.
2. If you don't like the chant, don't join in.
There you are, job sorted!

I have a feeling listening to abusive chanting is not popular either.
By your logic, if half the crowd start throwing bottles you should just let them carry on as the others can choose not to and you can't throw half the crowd out.

| Not good to hear if you take young children with you I can use that language with the best of them but when children are about its a different matter. As for the kids will learn it anyway and some use it at home well if mine come out with it at home they have to answer for it.

That's not true at all is it?
You are Jeremy Clarkson, and I claim my £1.8million pounds.
