3) And yes he as asked every one to join a lottery, But it is fact we need 5,000 members it is not his rules but the RFL, at least he as made it intresting by putting in weekly draws of £250 and two yearly draws of £3,000, discounts and other offers.....'"
The draws are £500 per week and 2 x £5000!

| Despite missing the first meeting I came out feeling fairly positive. The lottery seems a good way of creating the 5,000 members as it's reasonably cheap to take part in and offers a chance to get something back.
As for the stadium redevelopment yes we've heard it all before but not from Glover so he at least deserves the chance to back up his promises.
All in all it seems that the club are doing all they can to get us into Super League for the next 3 years yes they are asking for something but I don't think they are asking for much considering what they are offering to do.

| So to sum up
A ground that doesn't completely meet the criteria - but that is better and closer to it than certain other grounds that are going to be awarded a licence. If Andrew and James have been working closely with Savills (?) on this and they are the ones that are going to be making recommendations to RFL/SL in terms of grounds then we must know this can only help.
A concerted effort to get to 5000 members (in whatever shape or form that takes) which again would probably put us in fromt of other applications - Do you honestly think that Salford, Quins, Crusaders have 5000 members?
As James Elston said it is all about ticking boxes - if we can tick more boxes than somebody else they will have a hard time justifying giving them a franchise and not us.
The announcement wasn't what some were hoping for (including me) but we still have a club, and we still have a chance of getting a licence.
Andrew and James are doing whatever they can to improve that chance.
You, me, everyone else that was there last night has been asked to try and improve our chances - is that really a bad thing??
I'll support my team wherever and whenever they play, but if this initiative can help us stay in the top flight then all the better.
Come on guys now is the time to stand up and be counted (literally)

Maybe a fraction more....but nowhere near as much as we feared they would be if even half of your lot's expectations were fulfilled.

| Quote Shifty Cat="Shifty Cat"Don't agree, I don't think just cause Parkin would have invested, would have made a jot of difference, to the RFL or those rating the franchises. It would have been nice, if we had extra money, but if we drop a division, his money would be not much good anyway. The most important thing is getting those franchise points.'"
You don't think that someone turning up and investing, say, a million quid into the club like the guy at Hull KR has, would make any difference? Really? Of course it would! A successful businessman seeing Wakey as a sound investment and thus the club having two money involved rather than relying on one would only be a good thing in the RFL's eyes.
Put it this way don't be surprised if the new saviour of Cas announces a significant investment in the not too distant future to wrestle the advantage well and truely back.

I don't really think there is any advantage to wrestle back. An announcement about a lottery scheme and stadium improvement that still falls short of complying with the SL requirements is hardly going to get Cas quaking in their boots.

I meant the PR advantage rather than anything else. As i've previously stated I don't think even if we hit the targets that were set last night that this announcement will make any difference at all to the way the RFL will think. The past will come back to haunt us i'm afraid. The RFL set a precedent last time out with widnes. They already had a shiney stadium, plenty of members and a new wealthy backer but the previous regimes failings scuppered them. I'd love to be wrong but i've a feeling they will apply the same thing here. This scenario won't apply to the sacred cow that is the crusaders though, the RFL have a vested interest in them.

| What gets me most is the fans complaining....?
I expected more than that
I think there should of been summat more
You lot maybe happy but I'm not
But yet not one as stated what they was hoping AG to say or what they wanted to hear..??
Lets stop Arguing the rights and wrong, and back this club, in the end it is people power that rules the roost, the fans are the key, if we want it more than other super league clubs fan and show it by turning up to matches and getting our lottery to 5,000, then the money starts rolling in and makes the clubs job easyer, in we can offer better contracts to keep players, and to get top players in, what do we get a team that is going to win more games and take us in to the 8, then hopefully top 6, next top 4, and so on, but this can only be achived by back AG, then hopefully we can get a big sponsor....
Then hopefully wembley... (It will not be easy, but lets give it a shot) the ball is in the fans court...

And with that vested interest the RFL would have to think long and hard about Wakefield. If we did get the boot I could see a court case happening not long after.
