| I think it would take a decent wage hike to get him to travel across to Wigan.
His family appear to be really settled in the area and he will be on good money here too.

| Quote: vastman "Truth is Wigan are not a draw card anymore and haven’t been for a while.
Saints, Catalan and Warrington are the go too clubs now.
Sure Miller would still have more chance of silverware at Wigan than with us but they are no longer the cert they once were.
At Trinity Miller has a job for life and a testimonial in the not too distant future. It’s a lot to give up for Wigan, a bit of a player graveyard in recent years.
We will see.'"
That's just not true at all though is it, Wigan is as big of a draw card as they have ever been, one mediocre season doesn't change that. You are kidding yourself. Best facilities in the country, best investment in player welfare in the country, best production line in the country, the most successful club in British Rugby league history, the most famous rugby league club in the world, one of the biggest fanbases in the country, and and top of that if you spend a couple of seasons there as a player you would be extremely disappointed to pick up no silverware, that says it all about the standards at Wigan.

The most successful club in British RL history is undeniable but maybe not necessarily the most famous club in the world nowadays and not such as big a draw as they were, but the rest is debatable and at best speculative, as for the fan base unless we have different meaning of the term, and unless you haven't noticed prior to lock down they're attendances have dropped alarmingly to what they were, 100% agree with vastman.

You really know as much about RL as you think you do.
There was a point in the 80’s and 90’s that Wigan went from being a famous and successful club to being in a different universe.
Nobody and I mean nobody could compete. If Wigan wanted a player they got them, every player in the U.K. wanted to join them.
They won everything. They were the only full time club in the game and got massive crowds, crowds even Leeds couldn’t compete with. There players were also genuine household names.
The Wigan of today are still a big club but they are nothing like what they were, they can no longer snap their fingers.
I suggest you read the history books before shouting your mouth off.
I say again Wigan are still a big club but they are not the main game in town - end of.

okay then, you can be as deluded as you want to come across as per, wether that's stating for some reason Miller has a job for life at Trinity, not sure how that works or you can pretend Wigan are not more of a draw than Wakefield Trinity currently when they quite obviously are.

Of course you are right in terms of who is the bigger club.
But there are so many more things to consider that make the decision closer.
If you are an NRL prop in mid 20s who is behind some big names you pick Wigan as it will improve your CV and you may win something. You'll get decent Coa hing and have good facilities.
If you are a stand off, who hasn't really had any success in NRL, had a bad experience at a big English club, you have friends in Wakefield, you are a trusted leader in your current team, you've been through bad times and invested time to pull your team through, you are paid a decent wage and you have a family already settled with friends......not as easy.

Because I never said any of that, try reading my post properly.
I said Wigan are not the draw card they once were and Saints and Warrington is currently where it’s at, go on read my post.
I clearly stated Miller has more chance of silverware with Wigan, that’s a given, go on read my post.
The job for life is obviously a ref to his RL career. If he accepts a new deal from us it will take him to 30 or near enough and a Testimonial, as stated! In RL terms that’s pretty much a job for life.
Problem with you is I’ve dared to challenge your alleged expertise and frankly made up connections in the game and it’s irked you, virtual ego blown. If you want to try and debunk my posts that’s fine but at least do the courtesy of being accurate.

Just a point of note his current contract will take him until he is 30, which is next year. He is also still 4 years off a testimonial at this point so i doubt it would be a consideration right now. He’d need to sign a contract until he is 33 to achieve that, an extra 30 grand a year at Wigan would probably make any gain immaterial.

| Sincerely hope that Miller stays …. V underrated imo and the thought of him being replaced with Gaskell / Gale or even Hampshire would be a huge loss . Just starting to look a decent team , given the state of some of the “ top “ clubs next season will be v interesting !!

| I really like Miller, I think he’s shown some great form this year and love how he puts it about in defence. Unless they pay him mega money I can’t see him either commuting or relocating especially if he has a young family settled etc. It seems we’ve been able to bat of interest from other clubs for our players for a while now.

You might be right about him not going but it's not exactly far to Wigan is it? Players in RL are known to traverse the M62 rather than move so it's very doable for a couple of years I would have thought. And the bleeder would still leave the house later and get home earlier than many of us schmucks!

| Would be typical of a player to say Willie is the right man for the job, then leave the club!

Haha tell me about it! Can only go by what I’d do in that position and it would have to pay me a hell of a lot more to be sat on the M62 2/3 hours a day compared to driving 10 minutes to work!

| Well let’s wait and see.
