Because
1) he's a good player who is improving every game
2) he's well liked by fans and gives his all every game
3) we need cover on the wing. I think he'll play a lot of games next year.

Seemed to be nailed on a few months ago, I guess it really shows to not take anything as gospel until it’s announced by the club/player.

Fingers crossed the latter is due to his performances and hard work in training, not the fact TJ/TL are injured or suspended

On point 3 I suppose the nature of his injury may impact on that depending upon the current prognosis

You can't wait for him to get fit and then start the contract, what is he meant to live on? Ditto the other way around . He will probably be available around May time, so one year won't be enough.

Most likely he would have got a one-year deal but the injury saw to that, so the club has probably (a guess) spread that contract out over two years with a bit of padding to make it work. This way we will get more like a season and a half out of him at little more expense.

He's also got has van driving job to help out his finances
