| I'm sure they'd make us cringe by saying Carstleford.

| So one set of question on one episode of one quiz show has got you upset?
If it makes you feel any better, there have been several RL questions on Only Connect (another BBC quiz show)

| R U some how's grabbed the rugby tag. Not all that long ago the BBC and sky used to refer to both codes league and union. Now it's Rugby and rugby league. I'm sure it ain't happened by accident and that the unions marketing department are over the moon with the result.
I'm not sure about the yawning tag either. Long gone are the days when the ball would come out of the scrum only to be punted down field.
Unions in my views become a much better game and in all honesty I don't know have a problem watching it.
I prefer club rugby to the international game but even internationals are providing an improved product.

Yes, I too think union has improved greatly over the years, mainly I think because they saw how much faster league was (and still is) and found ways to speed up their game.
Gone are the days of the kick and clap.
My preference is, and always will be league but I agree union is very watchable nowadays.

| Quote: Redscat "I've just watched the final of today's edition of the BBC's "Pointless" quiz programme.
The question in the final had the heading RUGBY LEGENDS, and the three questions all had sub-headings relating to Rugby Union. No mention whatsoever of Rugby League even though the heading hinted that it could.
I'd complain to the BBC but Aunty Beeb would probably replay to the effect that RL is a minority sport. I would argue back that so is tennis yet there are questions regarding this other boring sport in just about every edition of Pointless.
Another example of the BBC treating us as second class citizens.
Tennis is 1000 times more popular than RL, and I love RL!

You are absolutely right but, in fairness, with Andy Murray as world #1, "everyone" now has an interest in the sport.
Plus, the BBC show Wimbledon every day for 2 weeks of the year and this gives massive exposure to the sport, plus
almost 500,000 (actual 494,000) people attended the Wimbledon fortnight and 13.3 million people watched the final alone.
These are gob smacking figures and the reason that tennis receives more media attention than RL

| There are certainly issues over the BBC and the wider establishment bias for RU over RL; questions on quiz shows produced and presented by public school educated minor celebs is, at best, the very tip of a much more problematic iceberg.

Agreed, the way we sell n brand our game is terrible.
I've recently returned from a trip to dubai n the shopping centred there were full of chocolate shops that looked uber sy great extravagant displays that gave the impression you were buying some kind of exclusive hi end chocolate.
Its a shame as when rugby is in TV tanya Arnold n the BBC staff are quite enthusiastic about the game and players but we just don't market the game and majority of clubs in a professional way. And the occasional international and cc games are not enough to draw ppl in
