| Odd how nothing has been mentioned on here about this until now. I don't read the trade papers often so hadn't heard about this!

It does seem strange, but it looks like a genuine book! Maybe the publication date is wrong?

| It is genuine. I think it was in Forty-20 magazine a couple of months back where Mike had written an article and this was mentioned. I thought the publication date was to be a bit later than 1st August though.
Mike is a respected RL writer and son of a Trinity great so my expectations are quite high.

Is that [ithe [/iMike Rylance who used to teach modern languages at QEGS (or maybe still does)? I'd always wondered if he was one and the same.

| Probably. As well as co-founding League Express he was their French RL correspondent for many years and wrote the book 'The Forbidden Game' about the banning of RL in France by the puppet Vichy government during WW2.

Just having a look to see if I can find it and came across this website:
www.wildcatsheritage.co.uk/herit ... dium-tour/
I remember this been set up when James Elston (surprise, surprise) was pushing 2011 as Trinity's last at Belle Vue!
Some interesting images there.

That fits. Remember seeing him down at the ground in the old days, standing near Clowns' Corner in a big fur coat.
Looks like I'll have to contribute to his royalty payments then, as payback for the 2 years in 6th form. He had a very dry sense of humour, and was clever with words, so I'm sure his books will be a good read.

Yes it is the same Mike Rylance, cracking bloke, and a good teacher.

| Hope this book is published soon - it couldn't come at a better time to raise awareness of our 140-year (and counting ) history.
Does Wakefield still have a half-decent bookshop? Last time I was in Waterstone's in the Ridings, I heard it was due to close. Whilst the club may not profit directly from it, a signing session somewhere local would do no harm in raising our profile a bit.

| A League Express and/or Wakefield Express interview/article followed by a well publicised (League/Wakey Express, club website, etc) signing session. The clubs Ridings shop one saturday on the run up to christmas would help get punters in.
He'll sell a few books and the club an opportunity to flog other gifts, season tickets, lottery, shirts, scarfs etc, etc.
Added bonus it projects a positive story about our clubs rich history.
