| Quote WT_Midlander="WT_Midlander"On the Goole Vikings website it says:
"Due to ongoing redevelopment works at Victoria Pleasure Ground, both clubs have agreed to reverse the fixture to Wakefield Trinity’s home ground in the interest of spectator safety and to maximise attendance."
If that genuinely is the case, and the ground would have a very limited capacity due to redevelopment work - then fair enough. But if it's just to try and get a bit more money, then that's a bit short-sighted. A big home crowd at Goole, would really have set the new club up well, as got the town's folk inspired.'"
Perhaps they'll play at home in the next round!

| Quote Richard1="Richard1"Agree with this. They could have showcased themselves to their town, and tried to build off it. They have missed a massive chance to promote themselves early in their existence for me.'"
They could also build up the game to get tonked in front of a lot of prospective new fans who are less likely to return.
I’d rather build up and aim for a good crowd in what would more likely be a more equally competitive fixture.
Then there’s the better pitch, facilities and potential income.
Correct decision for all parties imo.

| Unless Goole were physically unable to stage the game because of building works/safety regulations, I'm a bit concerned that the decision to switch it will back-fire. And that it will be an even lower attendance, than if it had gone ahead in Goole. We've only got the East Stand open, so it's not like you can go and stand in your favourite place on the North or West terrace anyway.
I think loads of us would've gone to Goole for the novelty of a new ground, and a day out. Whereas now, lots might give the home game a miss, and save our pennies for Leeds away, and the home games v Hull KR and St Helens. I hope I'm wrong ...

I don’t think that would be the case WTM, I’m sure more Wakey fans will be at BV who are wanting their rugby fix including Goole fans to come and look at our lovely stadium I know there’s 6 here going that wouldn’t have gone to Goole

| I’m one of those fans sadly. Got my mates excited about an away day to Goole on the train to see them try to beat us up on their ground, but I can’t convince them to pay full whack to see us tonk them in a third-full building site.
Apparently it’s something to do with their ground having some work done, but they must have known they were hosting a pro side this weekend if they beat London.
