| Quote: Trinity1315 "I've watched Trinity since 1960 and seen some great wingers, Prinsloo, Hirst, Fred Smith and Coetzer to name a few. Tom Johnstone is the only winger I have seen playing for us in donkeys years with the potential to be as prolific as the ones I name.
I make no apology for naming only 60's wingers - for me they were the best I've ever seen.'"
Don't forget Berwyn Jones.

Ah yeah! Give him the ball with an inch to spare and it was a certain try!

Slater was good no doubt about it but he wasn't round for long enough.

| Quote: Willzay "What's annoying to see now is that other people are saying it was more bad defending than anything else - no credit to Johnstone for basically embarrassing them. Wonder if the colours of the shirt were different more people would be giving credit.'"
If Tom was wearing a Wigan, Leeds, Wire or Saints jersey, the whole RL world would be raving about his 2 tries but, as it's "only" Wakefield it's not quite as good.
Moments like Sunday make the suffering as a Trin fan worth while.
Apart form Andy Wilson going 90 metres against Bradford ?, I cant remember a try like that by anyone in a Wakefield shirt in the last 30 years.
He made the defence look crap by his strength, agility, pace and power.
I'm fairly sure that all of them wanted to tackle him.

I haven't seen nothing but praise for his second try? As for the first, that's an excellent pass from Jowitt to put him over.

| Last try I can remember setting the house on fire like Tom's 2nd was against Bradford in Super League. Tadulala broke from our 20m line and fed Ben Jeffries about 20 m from the Bradford line. Jeffries then bedazzled the Bradford cover before going over.

| Richard Moore's against Wigan, when Calderwood didn't want anything to do with him was a recent classic.

| The long range try that brings a smile to my face is mike wainwrights vs saints in the 2004 season. It was an interception on our own line but the last 10m were done penguin style after he shrugged off a last ditch tackle, leaving his shorts round his ankles.
That was a quality game, 41-22, also remember a tadulala try that seemed to bring the house down in the benedorm flats.

Andy Wilson didn't score that try - he gave it to Mason at the end of his amazing run!

| What about Fletchers try in the semi-final at Headingley in 1979? Another speedy winger that we had before being inevitably poached by Leeds was David Smith. My favourite Trin winger since I started watching them in 1956 has to be Jan Prinsloo. His appearance/trys scored ratio hasn't been beaten, I believe. I remember him moving into the house opposite me when he moved to Wakey from St. Helens. The lady next door who thought she was a bit "above" the rest of us genuinely believed him to be a South African prince- Prince Loo!!!

Wasn't it Ashton who backed off all the way? Got offloaded by Wigan to R.U. not long afterwards.
