The Wakefield Trinity Mad-dogs, I like it, gets my vote.

| Quote Miro="Miro"I've never heard one kid chant "Wildcats" unlike Rhino supporters chanting "Rhino's". St Helen's do well with "Saints" so why not "Trinity?" keep the "Wildcats" for junior sections, some marketing but not the first team.'"
Then you get Leeds University advertising all over the radio for the past 6 months 'Leeds Trinity'
I'm for the whole hog, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats

I'm sick of people coming on here giving out the same old unsupported diatribe.'"
Believe it or not - that's up to you - but it is true.
SF was the one who introduced the name Wildcats, was big advocate of the brand and saw it as the way forward as a less 'messy' name and a more recognisable and saleable brand to new audiences.
There are those who would have dropped all the 'stick in the muds' if they thought they could generate more people in the process - and that can be difficult to argue against.

| Quote RL13="RL13"Wakefield Trinity Wildcats is a bit like that eels song from "the mighty boosh", where elements of the past and future collide to make something not as good as either. It is obvious (aside those from the Wakefield board) to many that language is a construct which signifies meaning through etymologies through cultures. As such, in quite surreal fashion - Wakefield have combined a feline animal, a bit bigger than the domestic house cat, with a word referring to the three persons of the godhead established in the ecumenical council of nicea in 325.
Am I wrong? Can you see how these name don't exactly compliment each other? Am I so out of touch with modern life that I'm only person in the world that finds the name gut wrenchingly embarrassing?'"
No you're not, but it seems we're stuck with it for the foreseeable.
The poll shows that Trinity is by far and away the more popular of the two with forum members, not withstanding those who prefer both suffix's, but it would be interesting what the results would be if the same questions was asked amongst all supporters.

| Quote rugbyball="rugbyball"Pmsl. I was waiting for someone to call his bluff.'"
What bluff is that then. I'm stating something I know, unlike others on here ie those like you jumping on Mwildcats mildly amusing comment I don't demand you accept it. If you don't want to fine. At the end of the day I'm not demanding that Steve Ferres be hanged on the terraces for daring to suggest it so no harm done even if I'm telling porkies. I agree it's heresay.
There is a world of difference between this and peddling darn right unproven lies about Ted or anyone else for refusing investment or stealing the ground away. In any other place that would be slander and I very much doubt the cyber warriors on here would be half as brave without the cloke of anonymity afforded to them on here. You make an accusation regarding someones integrity you better be able to back it up IMO. Saying SF wanted to drop the Trinity title is not slander and will not cause the mans reputation any harm.
I accept the p*ss take but if you actually think my comments fall into the same category as those I have demanded and still demand proof of you're being very foolish.Oh and yes I'm taking the moral high ground on this and I don't care.

Would be my choice as an official nickname. Wildcats is a bland and lazy conception. (Thank god I now have something trivial to moan about!)

| we need the "wildcats " it is our brand name.
try marketing trinity.
no wildcat dolls another growing brand along with the kittens.
wakefield wildcats netball team again good community points
wakefield wheeled cats (not sure exactly what they do but looks like fun)
daddy cool.
all things that young people can associate with. much as i love the trinity and it is a part of our heritage and should never be dropped the wildcats is vital to the clubs future support.
if marketed correctly it could bring in thousands through the gate as happened at keighley and bradford.
unfortunately we have never pushed the brand forward.
we need to look forward not backwards.

Its a great name but it won't stick with the younger ones, WE either move forward or live in the past, its no longer about crusty folk like us.
IF you market wildcats properly its a winner, its just never been done properly.
