| Quote: Fully "It's unpalatable but something we're going to have to get used to in the short-term at least. There may be a case two years, five years, ten years down the line when both clubs do not have to share and have a stadium each.
But for me, I want both Castleford AND Wakefield to prosper and show some of these cocky fans from Saints, Leeds, Wigan and Warrington that our clubs are sleeping giants and that you don't need to have a big money owner to succeed. Having a brand spanking new stadium will develop areas of the club that were financially weak, such as commercially.
I want to see a SL team in a SL stadium. Pettyness towards neighbours or location is not what's needed; it's solidarity between both clubs - we shouldn't be fighted, we should be uniting against those above us.'"
Whilst agreeing with your sentiment, you wouldn’t be saying the same if it meant Cas playing at Newmarket.

Actually, I would.
As I've said on a few threads the last few days, I might be in a petty mood now stating that I would never go but in all reality, Cas are in my blood and I'd watch them anywhere and everywhere if I could.

Spot on; the feasibility study will say whatever Box wants it to say - in this case, to rubber stamp the fait accomplis of both clubs at GH.

| Peter Box will only do what benefits himself, he has no concern over what happens to Wakefield Trinity.
As for JD I was told yesterday what he had said and didn't believe it until I had heard it myself. It is very easy for him to say such things, he can walk away at the end of the season and doesn't have to live with the decisions made.

| Quote: wildshot "To add some balance to the negative response by many on here to JD's interview. I am a fan of 26 years, love the club to death, have shares in the club - not as an investment but as a way to help the club.
I am also wary of the current economic climate, the change in recent politics which has led to many cut backs on a national scale. I am also able to remember many years of knock backs on stadia, who remembers the Pugneys venture with Yorkshire CC?
If a ground share is what is required then I have no problem with that since I see it as a long term benefit for the club. Okay, so people out of their sentiment will not go. Of those that don't go I think a number will come round to the idea over time. We will not lose all the fans who threaten to leave. Further, a more appealing venue for facilities and comfort will bring in new support and more travelling fans
I appreciate a lot of what you say there but for me it's about having a home you can identify with and feel at home.
I personally would never, ever get that feeling following Wakefield at Glasshoughton. Also going there would end any possibility of ever building our own stadium in Wakefield I would imagine.
I don't think I would have a problem following at Barnsley if I knew that while I was following there our own stadium was being built in Wakefield.
I've followed Wakey for over 20 years, maybe not as much as I would have liked home and away in recent years due to other commitments, but I did the hard times going to the likes of Whitehaven, Carlisle, Workington etc... and hardly missed a game for years and years, seeing plenty of bad times along the way. I always thoroughly enjoyed it though even if we did have some truly awful times. My hunger and passion was always there for my home town club though and that's the important bit....'home town club'
I now live out of Wakefield in Dewsbury but have no trouble at all travelling to 'home' games. Take that away from Wakefield permanently though and I'm sorry but that would be me done. I would probably walk the ten minutes up the road from home and watch Dewsbury.
I find it disrespectful of Jason to question fans love of the game for not wanting to travel out of Wakefield to watch OUR 'home' team.
I know plenty of people who have followed Wakefield for as long and longer than me and with more passion who feel the same way. You only have to look at the poll I started on Glasshoughton and take notice of some of the posters who have voted 'no' to realise the strength of opposition to something that our club captain questions the fans over...

The issue will then be what the Community Trust then do, because if the study backs Glasshoughton and Yorkcourt and the Community Trust tell Box to stick it, then I assume neither get built.'"
That's not how I read it. When the feasibility study returns the results that Box and Dicky Wright want to hear, Box will simply re-designate the land asset initially given to Wakey in favour of Cas. I don't think there's anything to stop him, at least, not going by the tone of the statement he made himself on the subject.

| Why is it that all other local councils can build stadiums whether it be football or Rugby but WMDC have never come close, especially considering they have 3 RL teams in its area. Then again looking at how WMDC seems to neglect sports, swimming and general fitness for the local community it's no surprise.

| Sky tv dictate how the structure of the grounds should be & to what degree. It seems that they want dual sporting facilities at all superleague venues. ie Leeds carnegie, jjb, galpharm, quins etc. So I do not think that they would have contemplated 2 stadiums in the same area even if they both could have been done on a budget.

the attacks on Sir Rod are a little odd!!...
almost seems to be something personal there...
if you re-arrange the letters of [iamber not yeller[/i and speak them with a castleford accent it almost sounds like p...e...t..e...r... b...o...????
or some one very closely associated with the chap!
Is there a history between Box and Walker? anyone know???
Anyway... I am getting totally P1ss3d off with this whole thing...
why dont we just pack up the franchise and re-locate to Barcelona... Barcelona Trinity Wildcats... and the weather for home games would be great!!
If Wakefield wont support the club... then take it away like the crusaders did, at least it would be a quick death!!

Now thats just stupid, all I asked was what did Walker do for Trinity last time he was involved . I have a few 'friends' who at the time couldnt wait to get rid of him and they were and still are season ticket holders.
And if he has Wakeys interests at heart , why has he been after a share at GH since NM was announced ?
It was a straight question , all it requires is an answer, but if you are incapable then i apologise
If Newmarket was further on than Glasshoughton then it would be Newmarket getting the nod and I would be finished with my team as some of you may be with yours if the decision goes to Glasshoughton. But its a field with some nice drawings and a boatload of planning issues , thats all
I wish Trinity well and hope they dont groundshare with us , It can only lead to the demise of one or the other . Leave us be and we will both chase the dream or entertain fev in the lower more honest leagues
GOD HELP RUGBY LEAGUE

Do they though? Where are these hundreds of council built stadia across the country? City of Manchester is one, though built primarily for the Commonwealth Games. It is not the responsibility of the council to build something for a private business, it is their responsibility to build swimming pools and other such facilities for the good of the public health.

In rugby league land I can think of Halton 100% built by council
Leigh 100% built by council
Dony not sure but council had huge input.
Warrington not sure
Hull KC 100% built by council
Anyway accepting what you say about the stadium issue, surely you can't defend Box and his gang of to$$ers with the last bit as we have no pool and no other facilities. What the t W A T has done to our city is criminal.

That's a Murdoch conspiracy theory too far. JJB was built by the council for the benefit of both of Wigan's professional teams. Same with Galpharm. Leeds invited the union team to generate some more income, and Quins returned to the Stoop, because that was where they had previously enjoyed their most successful years. Sky has got nothing to do with any of this.
