Bang on - well said.
I am sick of all the excuses - 1)RA didnt sign the players. Those players are good players and are underperforming massively. 2)The team needs time to gel - for christs sake they train with each other every day and half of um will be already putting feelers out for moves this autumn 3)packs not big enough - ever heard the expression "its not the size of the dog thats in the fight that counts, - its the size of the fight thats in the dog that matters".
Its about time people took responsibility. I cant stand all this get behind the team tosh all the time. I am watching players with no heart, showing no effort and some people want me to cheer for them. Some of um should either shape up or quite literaly ship out.

| Quote: imwakefieldtillidie "I think the problem we have with Smith is that we all want him to be the next Danny Brough, which he clearly isn't. I do think he needs a stand off who takes on the line to play alongside him, but if you watch him closely his passing is sublime. He also dictates well and virtually all our good attacking play comes through him. I personally hope he stays next season, because with a more dominant pack and attacking 6, I reckon we have a very clever player. I don't think he'd be out of place as captain, especially with Southern spending as much time off the field as he had been, although that would be harsh on Kirmond.'"
Have to disagree about the captains shout for Smith. It was totaly handed to Southern on a plate without proving anything and he has repayed the club with what exactly? Dont know how he dare pick up his wages. I also hope Smith is not here next season.

| Quote: asmadasa "eusa_clap.gif Completely agree. Rugby is a game where if you have a dominant pack or an equal pack the game becomes easier for the backs. Smith has got it tough with a weak/inconsistent WTW pack. We allowed a 30 yr old genuine SL prop in Korkidas to leave and we did not replace him with anything better which was a mistake.
Aiton should be at 9 and the bench should have had 2 props Johnson & James on it the other day - a coaching mistake.
Korkidas is obviously not a genuine SL prop as he is playing in the championship - he WAS a SL prop and i liked him but his course had run, even last year he wasnt playing to his own standards.

Agreed.
Korki and Obst are of course looking good against part-time players, having dropped straight out of a FT environment where they've been playing week in week out for a number of years - you wouldn't expect anything else.
I wouldn't argue that we could use an additional prop forward, but I don't think Korki is the answer.

Look, the team isnt playing well, we have plenty of other players who aren't firing but hey, lets look for someone to cane. Face facts, smith is playing behind a beaten pack, cooper Cronk would struggle to shine. Get behind our team. If your chasing success go follow Wigan.'"
lets get cooper over here and find out

| Quote: frogcat "mate. broughy wasn't playing at the back of a poor pack when he was at wakefield. smithy is quality player. there isn't any half backs in sl that would look any good playing behind a non existant front row.. i don't care who you put there. wakefields front row is probably the worst i have seen in the last ten years. the bench against saints was an out and out joke. when you have a quality hooker having to play prop against some of the biggest front rowers in the game there is definitely something radically wrong when johnson is playing in the 21's. its a joke'"
Well said doesnt that tell you something about the coach then.

Korki's powers were very much on the wane and it was right to look for a better option. What wasn't right was to release him (same could be said for Higgins & Hickey) and not adequately replace him. Right now he would have been a better bet than playing Southern or even now Aiton at prop!

| Shame we cant sign stu dickens from featherstone, he seemed to go well in both the games against superleague opposition. Him or one of the props for sheffield mitch stringer or jack howison both have played well surely worth a punt to see how they go?

Yes I've heard of that, have you ever heard of this expression, a good big one will always beat a good small one.

I wouldn't argue that we could use an additional prop forward, but I don't think Korki is the answer.'" the point is my friend he was released without first putting anyone better in place. watched him 3 times this season, he is playing great rugby and in some games seems to have found an offload. i have watched wakefield play every game this season and last , home and away and i would honestly say a pack full of young lads and a couple of old boys were head and shoulders better than what wakefield have this season. i have also watched hickey playing reserve in a couple of games and he went ok. looks fit and aggressive. wakey could do a lot worse than give him a play and pay contract. a lot of the wakey guys this year are massively underperforming. if just half of them would buy into the same mind set as cockaine , mathers and fox you would be getting somewhere. said last season, don't throw the baby out with the bath water. they did.

| I've been to watch korki twice this year and he looks pretty much the same as last year but obviously looking OK against part timers isn't going to tell you the full story and going on his previous efforts at our club we were right to move on. Couldn't give a monkeys uncle about Hickey, couldn't be d last time, doesn't deserve another chance, he was a straight embarrassment.
