| Quote: Disney cat "Yet another white elephant of a swimming pool. It’s swimming lanes that people want not just small pools for slides.
Leeds (shut & bulldozed)
Castleford (shut or closing)
Wakefield sun lane (shut & bulldozed)
Featherstone (shut)
How the council can back this is beyond me.
i know it is a bit out of area but:-
morley - being built
miggy:- pool with lanes
south leeds:- pool with lanes
wakefields facilities ? private only !

Throwing a curve ball here...
Would the land that Lightwaves be on be worth more to the council if it was a retail park? Maybe a calculated move to an out of town facility could be double edged.

You want something that is at attraction that does more than tick the boxes set out by the council if you require more than a stadium.
The galpharm has a Pool that the floor can raise and lower depending on the usage so I don't think I'm being critical for the sake of it - it was costly and a mistake.'"
Wadski it's a WATER PARK not a paddling pool. you really must travel a bit more.
It will create 200 jobs, not a couple of people with whistles.
In the Med and the States these places are huge attractions a large proportion are outdoor but many on the Eastern seaboard are indoors.
Look I'm a willycat thru and thru and our stadium is of the paramount importance to our club and it's future.
But i would be the first to congratulate Cas if they could double up with this type of development which would most certainly be a major coup for the district.

| I would have thought that any developer wishing to build a Water park in the area would have at least looked into the Pugneys Leisure and Water Park as a possibility.
Its a much more idilic setting for a themed water park than at the side of the motorway with a huge shopping complex next door.
Like many others I'm wondering if this is another smoke and mirrors excercise by the Cas BoD and Richard Wright.

| Good luck to em, bought time some good news came out of their mouth instead of their chairman spouting the same stuff over and over again.
We need something like that at newmarket, defo would benefit from a nice big family pub and I think they shoudl try and do a gym, the one in Rothwell sports centre is jammers most nights.... stick a pool in their too and we will be sorted.

The proposed development I believe will be under cover and purpose built so will create its own setting. Located at the side of Xscape and the Outlet Mall on a Motorway Junction makes it perfect - far better than Pugneys.

pugneys could never happen.
and this will lose a fortune.
simple plain and uncontestable fact is non subsciption water facilities ie pools and slidy pools lose money.
and lots and lots and lots of it, freze it ie Xscape and it makes money because it cant leak drain get unhygenic etc.

I stand corrected.
I doubt they will be up to the standards of the three (are there still three?) in Disney Orlando.
I wonder if there was a reason they didn't build one at Disneyland Europe though?
Whilst I seem to appear very negative about this I would welcome somewhere different where we could take the kids for the day. My kids are very young but have an affinity with water and both go swimming weekly (one being only 12 weeks old and at a private pool). But I hate the Metrodome with a passion and the place was summed up for me by a kid stood in the pool sharing chips with his mother. Great concept that would have Jamie Oliver running to the hills.
