| Quote Prince Buster="Prince Buster"i havnt seen old Ted for years but I know he is still as passionate as ever about the club and still goes to all the games. Carter and Ted are totally different beasts and a blend of the two would be a great mix. Their downfall is that neither have the resources like their fellow SL club owners.
Think why Carter may take more stick is because the bloomers he makes are more rugby related and thats something that the fans quickly pick up on and can see are wrong. With Ted it was other stuff which many fans are not aware of or in areas they dont understand.'"
Ironically, considering the grief the club is currently getting from a minority is that he communicated a lot more.
He'd come on here or meet people to tell them the facts. That's something no one else ever did, and most other clubs ever did either.
That's been beaten out of him. I remember warning that this would happen but some just don't get it.

| Perhaps this could and should have been done differently.
The club should be making more of the last home fixture of the season, no question.
However, to turn the positive of some players wanting to say "goodbye" into a negative, is quite strange.
Yes, it's disappointing that certain players are leaving but, certainly with Fifita, Arona and Miller in particular, they owe the club nothing and each one has been excellent value, to the point that most fans would be happier if they were staying.
It's tough for the club.
There is loads going on at present, especially with the ground etc and it's a pity that they cant sell the game more and attract a sell out crowd but, with all of the restrictions on numbers, this game will be close to a full house anyway.
Let's wait and see who is definitely going and who is coming in to replace them before hammering the club (again).
It would have been great to see the Fifita brothers playing together at BV but, the end of next season would have seen them both retiring and a massive hole to fill and probably, the budget blown in the process ?

Largely agree, but as stated on another post, can you imagine how Ted would fair now with social media in full swing, horrendous I'd suggest. He was lucky on that one.
If I were ever unlucky enough to run Trinity, I'd point blank refuse to do social media at anything other than an informative level. It's simply become ambush city.
Best policy is to follow our wonderful Queens advice, “never complain, never explain”.

Indeed. I bet he loves this feedback.
Anyone who was online before he started knows how much work he puts in. We are miles ahead of where we used to be.

| You didnt need social media with Ted, he couldnt hold water. This thread would never be running in his day back then we would have known who was leaving ,who was comming and who we were after and who we missed getting. He used to go out in Wakey on a night and he was always happy to chat about Wakey. Ted was basically a fan running the club. But you are correct he got as much stick as Carter it was not all in the open like now.

| His early silly comments on social media didn't help. I can see him being a bit stubborn and that may result in the odd sulk when things don't go his way.
His early devotion to the club also got wrapped up in I'm the saviour complex and it's my club and I will run it as I want.
Yes he seemed driven but not for changing., He's run the club how he wanted to and the lack of progress must be down to him. His clubs gone backwards on the playing front and that certainly hasn't helped.
He needs to try and reconnect with the supporters, and drop its my club thing
Supporters generally want to feel part of the club and that's definitely been side lined during MC reign,

I'm torn with that one.
He definitely doesn't allow fans to help out much as far as I can tell. We no longer seem to have things like Coolcats etc, whilst stalwarts like Sue Parker, Phil Townend and Philip Hulme to name but a few don't seem to be involved in anything.
In other respects he's very open.
Personally for the life of me I can't understand why the club have not harnessed fan power to help with the re-development like Fev have. I see no reason why tasks such as painting and decorating, fitting out, landscaping could't be handed out to a fan based body, I'm no expert on costings but surely this sort of free labour could have taken some pressure off the budget.
I'm absolutely certain that the Cats bar re-furb could have been done by the fans. I know we have the skill base.
However that's just my opinion, but I've never seen any suggestion MC or JM are keen on the idea and they may have very good reasons.

True, Ted was pretty much a walking Twitter feed.

How lazy of a statement is that? my point proven exactly
Two players given years of service to the club and Dave (probably one of the most iconic characters in recent times) given a shoddy statement.
Not even a highlight reel or some best moments, or a small video interview?

If my memory is correct it was Glover/Elston that disbanded what was basically a club private army. Wisca soon went and everything else collapsed. You are right if that spirit and bunch back then were mobilised they could achieve quite a bit. Carter never saw that and therefore dosnt really grasp what he has missed out on.
