Truth is most Trinity fans have been demanding a purge of the deadwood for a few years now, so they can't complain, though they will, at getting what they asked for.

We all have our own definition of dead wood. I wouldn't put Dave in that category, but he is definitely at the end of his career in truth. He probably had a year left in him all the same, so he needs a decent replacement that's for sure. As you say with him and TJ gone that's a big wedge freed up.

We will soon find out if that wedge is to go on new players, or to cover old costs.

The way I see it we are 11th possibly 10th in the league and fans are wanting to do better.

We are definitely losing TJ, Tupou, Fifita who are I assume 3 of our highest paid players.
We are possibly losing Miller as well who would also be one of our highest earners.

When you add Arona and Batch, we have a lot of big boots to fill but we have a lot of salary cap to spend too.

My shopping list for the 4 biggest salaries is prop, stand off, loose forward and full back.

We'll need another starting prop and second row, but the first group is the priority for spending the biggest money.

I know that covers Crowther and Jowitt but I'd like to keep them but we need better in my opinion.

And one of those priority players needs to be a captain.

I would have made Batchelor the captain had he stayed. I’d be tempted to consider Crowther.

Don’t forget Aydin but either way I admire your confidence that they will use the money in full on new players. It’s not just the loss of our highest earners but also our better players. I guess you will not be surprised that I have absolutely no confidence that the board will put together a better squad because they will do their usual bring in players living on past glories along with a bunch of failed SL players looking for a last chance.
I don’t know who does the contract negotiations but it would appear one success Kaye but the rest appear to be walking. I am sure they will eventually make some comment on Facebook what the plan is for next season but I bet it includes the words “living within our means”, “ loss of X amount of Sky money” and “things will be better once the new stand is built.
With regards the stand did I read that it included facilities to entertain up to 52 directors, I hope this is just a Dallas moment and I am wrong.

Yes but Carter sets the budget the coach can spend. WP can want whoever but if the club won’t pay what they are asking for whatever reason the coach misses out on that player so the final decision is with the board not the coach.

I don’t think a captain needs to be 80 at all. Equally they shouldn’t be 20/30 minute players.

Naturally I would imagine a leader or a few will emerge in the camp.

The coach must receive full backing, it's a mammoth task ahead of him. The clubs loosing some good individual players let's hope the younger members of the squad can recognise opportunities and stick with it.

Have a word with MC about putting some money on to assist or provide some ideas to raise funds and in turn increase the amount the club can spend on the first team
