| Quote lampyboy="lampyboy"You can forget any thoughts of a return to SL should we be relegated.
Mr Carter will plan his expenditure based on gates of around 2.5 to 3 thousand, no surprise signings in store.
=#FF0000Getting back in to SL would be expensive and not entertained by Mr closed pockets.'"
Have you ever heard the phrase "You don't bite the hand that feeds you??"
If it wasn't for MC stepping in when he did and steadying the ship, we wouldn't even have a club left to support...he has kept us going through some very difficult seasons and has financed what he can afford to finance, without risking his family's future...would you or any other of his detractors on here have done the same if you were in his position ??
John Minnards has clearly had some significant financial input in the past couple of years too, but unfortunately for us, neither of them has the same financial clout as the likes of Davy, Lenaghan, McManus, Caddick, Pearson, Beaumont, etc etc.
Like us minions on here, they are both obviously huge Trinity fans, but unlike us they took the huge step to invest in the club, which is something we can only dream of doing (see the Euromillions thread), and they have clearly financed what they can afford to finance and don't have bottomless pockets, so until someone does come along with money to burn, it would appear that they will continue to finance what is affordable to them !!
So to call MC "Mr Closed Pockets", I find totally disrespectful and grossly unfair

| Agree with last posts. They have made some mistakes along the way, (who wouldn't),but without them we probably wouldn't have a club to support.A shame that just as the ground plans are coming to fruition relegation looms.

| Quote Trojan Horse="Trojan Horse"I think your underestimating what may be possible somewhat. If we remove the large salaries and work to a salary model we could likely build a starting 17-21 full time players with a subsequent 7 or so academy/part time players.
You wouldn’t be talking 60/70 k contracts but more in the region of 25-40k which would appeal to players like Murphy/Kershaw etc.
I think we are at our rock bottom almost attendence wise yet vs Toulouse we still pulled 3.5k almost. I could see us still raising above 3k regularly in the championship if we build a competitive squad.'"
We are not there yet, but more likely we will be. Lets see shall we.
By the way if you seriously think Murphy will stick with us for £40k in the championsip, you are not very complimentary about his worth.
The guy is talented and every other SL club will be aware, he will walk into a team on double that

| Sorry Phil and Dunkirk I thought the club would have improved over the last 6 years
MC did a fantastic job saving the club and totally deserved the plaudits, but his record over the last 6 years been absolutely awful.
You can blow smoke all you want but he's had the opportunity to increase support and increase expenditure.
So let's be honest some saw our present situation on the horizon and that's when he should have adjusted his stance, bit by bit season upon season.

I think you overestimate how much a still very young winger earns if you think he would get over 80k. But he would likely get more than 40- The issue is why would he get any amount in the championship if he could earn the same amount in the top flight?
He has come through your academy but isn’t a local lad so won’t feel any affiliation in that respect.
If you are smart- depending on when he turns 21 you will be looking to try to ensure you get a fee for him.

I’m not sure what you think Murphy will be on in his first pro season but I can guess it will be closer to 20k than 40k. Lad was playing academy only less than a year ago. I would hope there’s an element of loyalty from some young players who have developed through the system even if it’s only for 1 season to get us back up. He’s played well but he’s also very inexperienced and learning his trade still. 80k is way steep at this stage of his career. For example wasn’t Kershaw only last year rumoured to be on little more than minimum wage? I really rate Murphy btw too. The reality is we may have to pay players like Murphy a bit more than their on presently this season to stay with us in the championship but it’s all relative.
As you say though it’s not over yet. We have done a great escape more than once. It can happen again.

| Your last game against us could well be a win, if we have cemented a position in the play offs and it can't alter i'm pretty sure we wouldn't be going full throttle seen as you would be. Could you imagine being beholden to Hudds for your survival ?

| Trinity would not be beholden to Shuds. It will probably be over before that.

No problem with that lampy, it’s just a matter of opinions, I admit MC has made mistakes over the years, but I am ferociously loyal to the club, yes I’m really feeling low at the moment with this situation, but I/we have to stick with them.

| Hurt combined with hopes always been the way at Trinity, its just the hopes gone under Carter. I'm bloody sick to death of the Skint anchor the club carries around with it.
No insertion provided by the owners just the same every season. You know its not that long ago we released 8 and brought 1 in, what does that say about the club.
No I'm sorry but it's down to the owners.

The game prior to this we play Saints and hopefully they will be trying new combinations and playing their U11's.
But I think that is when 2 games are played over the weekend, similar to previous Easter fixtures.
