Basically, he's a trialist. A year to show what he can do.
He will be on survival money I'd guess but with the second-year option holding the incentive, good business if so.
The thing with players like this, if it all works out they tend to be all action and soon gain folk hero status, so best of luck Sid
Note: It's easy to spot what WP likes most from players and that's a good work ethic. I think CC did as well but somehow lost the knack of getting it out of the players.
Trinity has always been at its best with teams that have that mongrel spirit, so let's hope we have got it back. The difference now is that we also have a bit of class in numerous positions, if we can meld the two together we will do alright. RL, such a simple game

Really, that's not how it worked under the Ted regime but if MC does things differently then so be it.
The clue is in the wording 'Adebiyi has signed a one-year deal with Trinity, with an option for an extra year in 2023.', ie he's signed a ONE-year-deal.
Usually depends on the contract but the option usually works both ways, if it didn't it would be a two-year deal wouldn't it. If he doesn't work out we will not offer him another year, if he does work out we will offer him the second-year option. The second year is often loaded with incentive payments so it's worth having. If we somehow have unearthed a superstar then I suspect it will be a complete re-negotiation.
So I stand by my comment, he's essentially on a one-year trial and not on big bucks I suspect. It's not like he had a future with London or that anyone else was knocking his door down.

Chuff me the Trial bit was just to make a point, obviously, he's not a trialist in the old-fashioned sense of the word but if you wish to take it literally be my guest. He's on a one-year deal, if it works out both he and the club have the option of a second.
We are not obliged to offer him a second year as I understand it. I know there are deals for exceptional players where the second year is binding but I doubt it in this case and I'm not privy to that info and neither are you. I'll get clarification if you want but I'd rather not waste people's time.

| I think it’s a smart move by the club, obviously the club have a say in the second year otherwise as mentioned it would be a two year deal. I hope he goes well and the signing of the extra year is only a formality.

| I'm really struggling with this signing, from what I see, he's no different to Titus Gwaze, a player who has been playing most of the season for London and done pretty well, whilst this lad had been crook most of the year with quite a serious injury. I don't see anything that he offers that we wouldn't have still had if we'd kept Titus.
Really starting to doubt my 1873 commit 6 payments and what they are actually being used for

Although I get your point Titus was a tight call but they rightly saw Aydin as the better option. Let’s be right here you only really want one rookie prop in the first team at any one time.
Also the comparison is not right. Titus purely pays prop as far a I’m aware, this lad seems to play everywhere in the pack and is that little bit older and more experienced. Also if we’d have kept Titus he too may have been injured, it is something of a curse at the club.
I know it’s been tough for you but we or are least I pay that money into the club for it to use as it sees fit. It’s unconditional even though I like you don’t always like how it’s used. I do it because one day it might allow us to sign a superstar of the future he we wouldn’t otherwise have been able. And by that I don’t mean some 15 year old wonder kid as they don’t always pan out. I’m talking the Gareth Ellis types who were just part of a number of ok players. For me it’s a numbers game with youngsters, we take what we can afford and we refine and occasionally we find a golden nugget.
It’s brutal as you know but if we stop doing it then lads like yours and many other may never have gotten the chance. True Dewsbury is probably not where he wants to be but he’s still in the mix so it has to be worth it surely.
My lad got nowhere near that far but I always paid up in the hope that he would. I still do but at 27 I’ve finally accepted that he won’t get signed
There are currently 11 genuine club produced players in the first team. I can remember when it was far less.
I remember when we played Cas in 2006 there were virtually no British players in the team let alone Academy product, bad days indeed.

I'm not comparing Titus with Yousif as they are totally different styles of player, and if I'm honest I see yousif as a 13 not a prop, but that's me , but Titus and Sid are so similar in many ways I just don't see the logic.
as for my lad, he never really got the chance, but I'll leave it there for another day as not getting in to it whilst he's effectively still under contract until 30th November
