| The point is quite simply this, If Chester is the coach at Wakefield Trinity next season, we will be relegated.
In the press today Chester is yet again saying we need a mass overhaul and that the players (his signings) just aren't good enough, he said exactly the same thing last season! And something similar the year before?

In other words, "these guys won't play for me".
And the new guys would? He's done, for me. I just can't muster any enthusiasm for our prospects.
Losing the dressing room is one thing. Losing the terraces is another.
Not sacking? Yeah, I get that.
Giving a new contract? Bizarre, if it happens. A long suicide note for the club.

No it didn't, we looked brilliant in some games long after Smith had left. However it's immaterial because I think we all pretty much agree Chester needs to go even his previously staunch fans.

| Quote Slugger McBatt="Slugger McBatt"Kear or Ward for me.
Ward got a lot out of a group that were really a good Championship squad by getting them fit and by making it look like they were enjoying themselves. He proved himself, in my view, given the talent he had at his disposal.
We've gone downhill since Kear left, and it is hard not to wonder whether in reality it was a Kear-coached side that did so well. Any coach with Chester's record over three seasons would have gone. I can understand that the club would be reluctant to sack him if there is no relegation, as there wasn't last year, as it would cost money, but to reward performances that are way below our squad quality, and have been for a long time, with a new contract would be plain bizarre.'"
Couldn't agree more with that. For me one of the biggest crimes of all is our woeful underuse of the best player we have had in SL or will have again for years, instead having him spending his days driving the ball out of his own 20. Criminal

| Quote Sacred Cow="Sacred Cow"So you don't want Ward, a guy who got London promoted against all odds aganst megabucks Toronto, almost kept them up with the smallest budget in the league and has been an assistant to Wayne Bennett for Great Britain. But you'd be happy with James Ford, a promising coach yes but one who has never coached in the top division in any capacity, in fact has never even dealt with fulltime players before and whose team is currently in the bottom half of the championship despite having one of the bigger spending budgets and many well known players. Right OK then.'"
That's really not what I said at all. Go back and read it again. I'll wait.

| Quote Scarlet Pimpernell="Scarlet Pimpernell"I actually admire your attempt to defend the indefensible and carrying on with the line who is better then Chester. The bar is set fairly low to be better than Chester so the way to look at it is who would be worse than Chester because this is a much smaller group.
I note your usual fellow Chester defenders BG and WWW and suspiciously absent leaving you a loan voice in the wind of despair.'"
That's laughable.
You know, when we had a run of wins, it was like tumbleweed on here apart from those positive supporters you don't like.
A good loss like yesterday and you are all over it. People posting on here that I haven't seen in ages. I guess it's just a big pile on.
Pretty sad if you ask me.
I might start a Covid thread so Miro can come back and distract everyone.

Your insinuation is that Danny Ward hasn't proved to be any better than Chris Chester. You then suggested James Ford as an option if we are going unproven English. That isn't aiming higher, it would actually be going in the other direction. Do you see the contradiction or do you need further help?

| Quote Dunkirk Spirit="Dunkirk Spirit" I think we will end up in the second tier if it’s 2x 10 league, depending on CC recruitment for next year. I will be disappointed if that happened, but I will still be a supporter, as I’m sure many others will be, it’s in the blood.'"
I’m not knocking you DS but this is what’s peeing me off. As a club we seem to be happy with mediocrity (if we’re lucky). We’ve had a couple of goodish seasons by our standards but generally we seem content to be scrabbling around in the bottom half and rejoice if we just avoid relegation. The club seems to have no ambition. We’re like the team on the field, unable to build any pressure, no progress from year to year. A poster in the Guardian this morning likened us to, “the turd that Super League can’t seem to flush away”. You have to be a masochist to support Trinity but there comes a point when the pain and disappointment just becomes too much. I'll support Trinity whatever division they’re in but I want them to be in the top flight and I get frustrated and angry when the powers that be either don’t see the iceberg heading our way or seem to think (against all the evidence) that the boss is capable of steering around it.

It is what it is, at times like this folk wanna come on here and vent their frustrations as with Covid there’s no chance of any supporters meetings, although I suspect without COVID we wouldn’t be having one with things as they are.
Some posters have been negative about Chester and Carter for ages and guess what, it appears they were bang on the money.

| The fans have generally given Carter a get out of jail card but I think things may be changing. Carter's sat back and let Chester carry the can without any criticism aimed at himself.
Chesters been a god send for Carter he just gets on with things while working with a totally crap budget.
I feel sure should someone else take over they would demand more money before taking control.
That raises the question, why doesn't Carter give Chester a super league budget.
