Nah, JT's no longer exists in fact I'm not sure they ever existed until JT created it. Modern life and the ambitions that come with it mean that Kirmo will have to move onwards and upwards, it may be at Trinity, it may not but I can't see him fulfilling the JT roll personally.

Great servant and ambassador for the club both on and off the pitch and if ever you needed proof of this, his performances this season have showed a level of grit, determination and quality that you cant coach. He's been awesome and it's fantastic news that he will remain at the club as both player and as part of the staff..

One thing about DK that increases his worth massively for us, regardless of how much he might play or coaching experience, is he seems to be the heart of the camaraderie and bond between our players off the field and one of the reasons why we've kept our star players at the club in recent years. For example Fifita almost left prior to signing his first extension but it was DK that persuaded him to stay.

I'm told that for many years, long before SL, that Wakefield had a reputation for not looking after its players and rightly or wrongly not a good club to be at. Judging by the number of ex-players you see kicking around BV they certainly don't fall out of love with the club but I must admit few seem to progress up the ranks so to speak or publicly praise the club. That seems to have changed in the last few years with a lot of players who now seem happy to spend the bulk of their careers at the club, even end their careers with us. This was most exemplified by Tom Johnstones impassioned reaction to the belittling of the club by a dim-witted Sky pundit earlier in the season.

This new-found pride amongst players of all backgrounds can only bode well for the club, it won't be instant but year after year this feeling of pride and belonging to 'a good club' will pay dividends, I'm certain of it. This is in stark contrast to the past when at best Wakefield was considered a stepping stone and at worst a last resort.

Think the pearman era was a particularly bad time for player relationships with the club , fast forward to the
Aiton era who openly says it’s the best club he’s ever played at and that includes the NRL and you know you are building something special .We are a club now that has well and truly shaken of that Micky mouse tag of yesteryear and looking forward to a bright future with a shrewd man at the top ,a quality team on the pitch and back room staff focused on delivering the goods ,and a stadium refurb on the horizon ,what’s not to get excited about .

Really glad Kirmo is staying for another year. He's been a real asset to the club both on and off the field, and is likely the best captain we've had in the 20 years in Super league
