| Quote DAVE@CAS1990="DAVE@CAS1990"Well, yeah. Floodlight fixed, wall fixed. Like I say, I'm not saying it's the Santiago Bernebau. Cas ground being unfit for purpose is your opinion, but luckily not the RFLs. There's no point arguing over it - cas currently meet minimum requirements and Wakefield don't. Whether that's fair or not, who knows, and I'm sure it's a bitter pill, but it doesn't change anything. And it certainly makes no difference to Wakefield's situation.
As it stands Wakefield have had to half their stadium capacity for safety reasons (presumably ongoing) which isn't good for the game or for Wakefield themselves.
I appreciate it's easy to look around and think "why always us" considering the sagas you guys have had to endure over the last 10 years. But comparing your scenario to ANYONE'S is pretty much impossible. I don't think any sports club in the UK is in a similar situation, on a whole lotta levels.
Hopefully you guys can get a committed developer at least showing interest before next week'"
No it doesn't meet minimum standards , hence why the RFL are punishing you financially to the tune of 50k as they are with us (and will rise accordingly). What it does is meet more of the criteria than BV does hence the pressure is on us more.

Wheldon Road definitely doesn't meet minimum standards, you're just in a seemingly much better position to eventually move hence the RFL are more lenient.

| The RFL may not as such be the villains here, but would it hurt them, if they are genuinely concerned about the club, to show an interest and attend some of the meetings the trust and council hold

I also wondered whether a representative from WMDC would be available to explain their role/position in this sorry saga to the RFL on Monday?

| Been supporting our team since 1960 and so upset at what appears to be the inevitable. Just hoping for some miracle.

No thanks. Odsal is in a worse condition than BV.

Its really not. The terrace is in pretty good condition. Odsals naff with the away stand 10 miles from the pitch and it being -10 when everywhere in the country is enjoying 20 degrees. Very little atmosphere due to its size and no roof. But the state of the terracing, stand is in pretty good nick. Anyway don't want to get in childish arguments who's stadium is worse.
Feel for your chariman and team. Wakey are actually one of the few teams i enjoy watching in SL. From outsider looking in looks like the developer is deliberatly trying to avoid building the stadium. I hope you get it sorted as MC is an honest chairman who deserves it. If we had an owner his honesty, we wouldn't be in the state we are in now. Good luck!

| Wakefield was always one of my favourite away days but going there this season to watch my team v Sheffield you realise how bad the ground is when there's not that many in it . I really can't see you been thrown out though plenty of football grounds available around your way

| Can see them telling us to play at another ground next season until new ground built only way I can see playing at Belle Vue next season is if it's tided up and council can garentee new stadium is happening.

There's not too many football grounds close; it's pretty much limited to Leeds and Barnsley. Current RL grounds close by who are closer to meeting the standards are Featherstone, Castleford, and Dewsbury
