| Quote upthecats="upthecats"Errors aside, both players getting slated were statistically two of our better players...both making over 100 metres and both missing no tackles..Fifita our top metre maker with 140 from 17 carries...2 errors and 1 penalty...I can live with that! Harrison gave 3 penalties away and missed 5 tackles and Mika Simon made the same amount of errors as Lyne but am struggling to see the thread started in his name?'"
I don't recall slating Lyne or blame him for the loss, merely stated that after 100 games he's hardly fulfilled any 'potential' he may have had at one point. Mika Simon IMO has been one of our best recent signings, running hard & straight! Wasn't he player of the year last year? Comparing Lyne & Simon is a non starter as far as comparisons go & FWIW I'd love Fafita to stay next year.

| Simon didn't have great game either. Although he runs the ball in hard it's 50-50 whether he loses the ball in the collision or makes some yards. Appreciate as a smaller prop he has to use speed to make up for the relative lack in size but I am always expecting the ball to come lose when it takes it up.

| To be fair to Lyne...he's probably one of the lowest paid in our squad...he's honest and genuine....yes, he makes errors now and again...he's played 100 games though scoring nearly a try every two games, mainly in a struggling side...he regularly tops 100 metres a match with plenty of work rate...usually 15-20 carries per game, helping out the forwards...when you're not able to spend the full cap I guess players like Lyne have to help make up your squad....the criticism of Fifita I just find ridiculous, he's easily been our best forward since he's been here, just maybe unfortunate timing for him that we had a terrible injury crisis and dip in form when he joined...with a full pre season and a strong, fully fit pack around him he'll be a revelation IMO...why can't people see this? Is 17 carries for 140 metres against the best pack in the league not good enough for some?

| I dont totally get all the Reece Lyne baggers on here.
He isn't the best centre or winger we have ever had, but certainly isn't the worst either.
I honestly don't think that any of our backs who have played this year are the complete package, in all skills sets. They all have good traits and bad traits (ie Lyne, quick strong, relatively good defensively, Arundel strong, but not as quick, Bill Tupou, quite quick and solid, but doesn't have a decent pass in him to make a good centre) when you compare all the stats he is better than some players at certain things, but not as good at some other things.
I said at the start of the season that in the backs we had quantity rather than quality, and I think I labelled them average Joe's. This is really what I meant.
Lyne has steadily improved year on year, on some element where he has struggled. On his side, apart from Jowitt and Johnstone, of all the other regular backs that have played this year, still onlly 23, he is the youngest and still has time on his side to continue to develop.
Now I dont know whether Brown will play centre or wing, but if he does play wing, I think it would be worth getting a real quality out and out centre, and make the remaining centre options fight for that final centre place.

You really don't need to say anything as you're utterly clueless IMHO.

I could understand Ray Charles coming out with that
'"
You have a forums worth of them on here.
Anyone with eyes can see that with a good close season behind him he will be hugely potent.
It's like these people have no realistic ideas in there heads. They do recall that Fafita joined us halfway through the season not having played any serious RL for a year only to end up as the go to man in every game because he was the only bigs lad we had.
With England back and Hirst recruited the work load can at last be share. Used correctly and at peak condition the bloke will be a revelation next season - if we are lucky enough to keep him.
As for Lyne, he does OK unless you were expecting Trinity to have the best centres in SL - serially I think some on here actually do expect that
Trinity fans, unbelievable at times.

Whether he will or won't doesn't matter - the fact is that this bloke makes it up as he goes along. He's a 50/50 chance of being right on ever lame prediction he utters.

I was stood down at the railings at the front of the North stand when the players came along shaking hands at the end of the game, and when Fifita came along I commended him on his performances for us and asked him if he would be here next season ??
His reply "HOPEFULLY".
Fingers crossed then

| It's that Lyne is consistent in his mistakes, it's every game. Compare yesterday with Tom Johnstone no errors, one try from one opportunity, one break. Lyne 2 errors, no breaks,

| Lyne bashes give the guy a break, we were without Miller and Moor so we were short on ideas on how to create chances, think it should Finn as got to be replaced in the team . Think we just had 4 or 5 players out last night so pack a lot stronger and think you could see what as been missing the last 6 or 7 week , if one or two 60 40 calls had gone our way we would have won .Things are looking good for next year

| Just watched Johnstone try again.
Lynes break in play before sucked some of the players in field which created the overlap

How many times did you have to watch it though to find that?
