It wouldn't hurt to let supporters think the club are making plans that extend beyond the end of the season.

Head scratching. But why do people believe a rumour as gospel but don't believe our chairman when he says it's not true

The thing is it's no longer a rumour, it's now being reported as fact by BBC sports main sports page.

The Chairman says it isn't true and also said "the last he knew of Rankin he was heading home".

The trouble now is that if we do sign him the Chairman looks like a liar, therefore I'm guessing he won't be signed by us and the rumour/reports are untrue

I'm not sure any comment needed to be made . Let the paper reports what it wants , at least it gives the fans something to talk about . I don't get the Twitter thing, I have never followed it and don't expect I ever will.

I think MC is being a bit of an egotistical prat to be honest.
Rumours of signings are good for the club but more than that they are just good fun for the fans. I don't know why he feels he has to shoot every rumour down.
Just tell us when you sign someone and leave the rumours to us.
