To be fair to them they had four players that were named in their 19 man squad that pulled out through injury so it wasn't as strong as expected.

So if all those players had been available who would have been dropped?
Evalds?
Josh Griffin?
Logan Tomkins?
You can't play 'em all.

Is this a rhetorical question because that is the problem I am highlighting in that we have released players without having replacements ready to come in. I agree that at this time of the season we have very limited choice and I have no idea but to be honest it is not my problem it is for those that agreed to the termination of contracts to find suitable replacements. If they do not then they have further reduced our chances of staying in SL.
We had 19 fit players for today's game, providing we have not picked up further injuries we will have the same 19 next week however, if we have and none are ready to return we may not have enough to field a team, that is the position we are in. I read suggestions of signing players from Australia but this is no longer a quick process and the play offs may be over before they get here. We could look at those holding European passports but this again limits the choices open. With these problems it looks like we may have to settle for journeymen from the lower leagues as a quick fix but not a good one for our survival but good for the money saved in salaries even if it costs us dearly in the long run.

I don't think the club would be so stupid as to release players without identifying and lining up replacements (I hope).

| For me the main thing to come out of the game was the improvement in effort both in defence and attack they kept going to the end and went beyond the 25 mins we gave it a go effort of what we had seen for many games before.Salford are not a top side but neither are some of the other sides we have been blown away by and had we played Salford a couple of weeks ago we would have had a big loss.Rome wasn't built in a day and 99% of the fans were there till the end and applauded the side at the end how many times has that happened this season so it appears a lot saw improvement

| It appears that the team were given three target areas to improve and by and large they were successful in applying the changes required. This shows that the players are responding to what Smith is demanding of them, but you can't fix everything all in one go. Whilst disappointed at the loss, I am comfortable with the progress made and am sure we will be in a much better place come the 8s.

Clearly, cutting out the penalties (whether or not Hicks had any blame) was not one of them.
Still reasonably happy with the improvement though. Better test next week over in France. Hope it's Thaler because he has a really downer on Catalans.

| as a reds fan there was small improvements from wakey, i think smith is keeping one eye out for the play-offs to be fair as this season as well gone for you, i believe smith will have a list of players to come in before the play offs start with a few players to leave, dont be suprised to see mcshane leave in the next few weeks which will free up some much needed cash, hicks was poor to be fair the break he pulled back for a first knock on by salford i seen that as a certain try which could of rallied wakefield as it was a tight game throughout but it also could of rallied salford too, salford were weakened yes but still had a good squad out there which probably in wage was earnt as much as the entire wakey squad, it was the strongest team we have fielded since wigan in our last win previous to this at easter, i genuinely have a place for wakefield in my heart and hope you guys manage to turn it round in he playoffs and keep your status in superleague next term, lets bear in mind you murdered leigh in the first half in the cup so it shows its there but just requires 80 mins of concentration and i believe this will come, good luck guys !!!!!!!!

In fairness, Tomkins is better than Lee and Evalds is keeping Locke out of their team on merit

Fair enough. One point though, letting Mcshane go at this stage of the season would imo be a big gamble and a terrible mistake. The guy has been one of our better performers and won't be easily replaced.

| Must be an improvement, the RLE have given Pita Godinet a Albert Goldthorpe point and the gamebreaker was down to Mr Hicks wiping Riley's try and salford going up the other end and scoring.
Saying that other than a 40/20 and a lot of messing around what the hell did chase do???????????
