That was the first time I got to see the team in the flesh since the season started. I must admit to being very encouraged by what I saw.
Admittedly there are lots of ifs and buts. However we did create chances and potentially crossed the line 3-4 more times had it not been for forward pass/obstruction/dropped ball etc. The fact we are getting so close is what encouraged me.
The heart was there even though the execution was marginally short.
I agree Salford is a massive game now and we really need to be clinical. We've got to keep in the middle pack of the league and not get drawn into the scrap at the bottom.

[i Quote asmadasaFlanagan will miss out for a spell after needing surgery on a damaged tear duct sustained from a challenge from Ali Lauitiiti in the second half.
Coach Keiron Cunningham was understandably dismayed.
He said: “Mark has needed surgery on the eye. If you watch the tackle back Lauitiiti hits him in the head with his shoulder.
“There was apparently no problem with the tackle, but if that is the case how come Mark Flanagan has split his eye and damaged his tear duct from that tackle'" [/i
That would be the tackle which Flanagan clearly runs straight into the chest of Lauitiiti, the one which SKY showed a number of times because Flanagan got completely smash daddied by big Ali, the one where the whole SKY commentary team were salivating over because it was a great example of a big tackle that didn't need the type of cheap dirty play Sts and Wilkin in particular were employing!

Wellens should have got 3 for tripping as well but Cunningham was looking the other way when they happened so can't comment! |
