| Think we are all getting too deep now, we need step back take a deep breath and try and be positive.
For whatever reason we are where we are, it does not help to dwell on the past or start blaming people.
Lets stick together and try to move forward, theirs plenty out there wating for us to fall apart and i for one dont want that so lets be positive and upbeat and do what needs doing to beat this problem.

We are in this mess, again, because we didn't learn from the past. We have to look into why what has happened as happened or it will happen again. If that hurts egos, tough.

Interesting to see a swing in opinion from certain quarters that previously appeared pro club when it was Ted in the hotseat, and then when he went swung the other way when he was gone, and now seem to have turned full circle
If I was cynical I would think that the change in attitudes could co-inside with the amount of scraps that were fed down from the top table......
It's our club, the owners (however grateful we are for them, and we are [or at least I am] extremely grateful to them) are merely the custodians of it and must always be able to be questioned. It's incredible how short peoples memories are.
If the club goes down the pan, it would most likely rise again in some form or another in some league or another and would continue. Lets hope it never does go again, but should the unthinkable happen it wouldn't just vaporize - there would be something of value left with this much interest and die hard support.
Supporting the team and questioning the club are not mutually exclusive positions.

You've written everything I feel in much less caustic terms than I'd write. I am cynical though.

This is the issue though, it isn;t our club, it's the shareholders, we may like to think it ours, but the ideological days when clubs were run for the benefit of the fans are gone. It's a business. Ok we have invested a lot of emotion into over the years, some maybe some money, but thats it. If you want it to be your club as opposed to the club that you support you would have to invest in it and become a shareholder, sadly that;s how it is nowadays. I know we say no fans =no club, but equally as much (as is becoming very clear) no investors= no club. We can ask questions but have no right (except maybe morally) to any answers. It may be a hard truth to stomach, but, that I am afraid is how it is!

Sums up our situation too. Good luck to Wakey.

No, this is where this argument keeps falling down. Spirit of 1873 Ltd does not below to the supporters, but if that ceased to exist, you're telling me there still wouldn't be, in some form or another, a Wakefield Trinity Rugby League Football Club?
Of course there would because, and this is the biggest load of schmaltz I'll ever write, the true "Spirit of 1873" lives in all of us who follow the club. Carter, Glover, Richardson, Walker. They all come and go, the club has been here since 1873, it'll be here long, long after the youngest poster on here isn't around.

I really hope that is the case, but i think times have changed, maybe in days gone by one "holding company" would fold and another would come along and set up again, but this time i'm not so sure. WTRLFC may survive, but i think it would be in an unrecognisable form from the current incarnation. We may end up playing as a part time club in the lowest league, yes a few diehard fans (me included) would go and watch, but in reality most of the "newbies" would probably drift away leaving a shell of the present club. Maybe i'm being over pessimistic, I do agree to an extent of what you are saying, but I really do fear for the future of the club without a significant investor.

Absolutely correct - the only problem right now is that our SL share is attached to 1873 and, given that SL is reducing next year, the other clubs would not vote to give it to a newco and would immediately relegate us. In that scenario we would then have to go to the developer at NM and to the council with amended requirements and on a much weaker basis. Basically, we stand to lose an awful lot that we have worked hard for.

So in a nutshell Phil we may lose the chance to move to Newmarket and as Belle Vue is owned by the BOI we could end up homeless and hence the club disappears in it's present incarnation. Squeaky bum times ahead!!

The tie-in with Newmarket was something that I've wondered about too, but without any facts to fall back on. Thanks for clarifying that.
As for Trinity and the future, well, if Sheffield and Gateshead can form new clubs after having been swallowed up whole, then I think there'd be hope for Trinity in one form or another. However, it's not an option I'd like to contemplate.

This is always the problem when you don't own your own ground. You only have to look at Coventry City for an extreme example. If Sheffield are moving to Owlerton, we can always move to Kinsley.
If the house of cards collapses, those who caused it, I hope, will lose their status as deities amongst some.
