He is the owner of Guisley football club and is worth about 170 million. Steve Ferris is more than likely to be the new Chairman of WTWC. Source tells me they are about 90% certain of this but are not sure if the intentions are to go into administration or just pay the debt off. I am also told that Guisley are not for off Blue square premier status and need a sufficient ground to satisfy this and are that certain that this will happen that are willing to invest in Wakefield to ground share.

Would be a massive shot in the arm for the SL franchise bid. One thing the RFL will never do despite there total incompetence in most areas is turn there back on a potential money man.

Not too sure about that, they turned away Steve O'Connor because Widnes had just been in administration despite an offered £500k bond. Could still be looking at a stint in the Championship if the RFL are consistent in how they look at these situations. Someone has to come out so who will it be? Can't see them increasing the number of SL clubs as 15 wont work with the Magic weekend and 16 wont work because they'll not want to dilute the pot of gold. Coaches and players are already saying that they play too many games. Interesting times ahead. |
