Quote Tricky2309="Tricky2309" I have absolutely no time for Ted Richardson, we are in the mess we are in principally due to bad decisions made by him and his hangers on. If this club goes to the wall, he will be one of the main reasons. I was disappointed but not suprised to hear of his comments in the press. All it does is make us look desperate and reinforces the view that we know we are struggling. As I said on another thread whatever any one thinks about Dicky Wright, it will be some achievement if they manage to get the stadium built with very little public money going in.
If he wanted to criticise anybody were up against for a licence then it should have been the Welsh team, cos at least his comments may have had a small degree of relevance in terms of us needing to be treated fairly. I know it wouldn't make any difference in the outcome, but at least nobody could have argued about it.'"
Exactly which decisions of Ted's do you think are putting the club on the brink?
The worst decision the board made in recent years was to allow Pearman to get involved with the club, and even then the only reason things went pear shaped is because he committed the club to deals that he didn't actually have the authority to enter into on behalf of the club. It's because of Ted's significant efforts with the bank and guarantees he put in place to support the club's financing that we did not fold then.
He stood up for the club when we were first promoted to SL but without the share of Sky money that others were getting and without the need to take RFL £m handouts that the merged clubs that are still in SL received (Hudds & Hull).
NONE of the issues about proposals for a new ground (be it Thornes Park or Newmarket) are down to Ted. WMDC on the other hand led us down the garden path on TP & caused plenty of delays in the planning process for Newmarket leading us to a position where the proposal was only called in last week when potentially it could have been a few months ago if there hadn't been the various delays.
Ted has never claimed to have the riches of Roman Abramovich to plough into the club to build the best squad and there's little point in significantly developing BV when the ground was sold a few years ago and we were always going to be moving out.
Ted's comments may not be the wisest to have been made in the public domain (no matter how true they are) but to suggest that he should shoulder the blame if the club lost its franchise & (God forbid) went to the wall is more ridiculous than me suggesting that Wigan are actually the club most at risk of losing their franchise!!! (they aren't but you get the point)
Whatever the future holds for WT when somebody comes in to take over the reins from Ted, he will go with my thanks for doing his utmost to see the club being as successful as possible.
If you think you could do better then get yourself on the phone to James Elston and make an offer to buy the club, otherwise keep your comments to things you actually know about (and for the record my comments are based on first hand knowledge of the facts from dealing with the club on a business level).
