EVENTUALLY, WE'LL WIN SOMETHING, ,MAYBE, IF I'M STILL ALIVE THEN:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_31007.jpg

Quote: PopTart "Again, although it isn't very nice, why is it a problem either way?
If we get match day control and match day income why do we care who does what on the other days?'"

I'm guessing it's becoming about getting exactly what we were promised when Newmarket was first proposed. Whether we should compromise that principle to get something workable is a point for debate. Perhaps the point is to do with a commercial rent being offset by having all the income, or a low rent offset by not having all the income. Two sides maybe wanting the best of both worlds?

Quote: Scarlet Pimpernell "The council do not need to appease the few on the forum. If they convince the majority of Wakefield ratepayers that the club are greedy by wanting a ground but not willing to contribute towards it.
What the council has done with the statement is to fill the void left by the clubs silence. If what they say is correct or not it is all that the ratepayers have to go on,
The club are not helped by 88M also pointing out that they are being ignored by the club and have not received official instructions regarding next season.
The club are now boxed in (I know) if they follow through and move out of the city they can never return without agreeing to what the council have asked for. They could stay away from the city but that would mean a slow death.'"

Why would it be suicide? How much is the rent going to be?

Quote: vastman "Why would that happen. Councils can be sued and the Trust can sue the Council. Forget about YorkCourts its the Council who will be sued I suspect and sued on behalf of the Ratepayers who they have failed.

Of course they won't want that and will then and only then find the solution that is needed and part of that will be to force Yorkcourts hand. Remember Yorkcourt don't own the site where the stadium will be built nerd they have planning permission to carry on. 88 group don't have planning permission either. Can you imagine how easy that one would be to block especially if the Council were forced to swap sides. That is how I see it.

Truth is you're not an expert and neither am I. We don't have the knowledge or all the fact, in fact I doubt many people do have the knowledge of such a complex case including the Council. That's why the Trust are taking it slow, we can't afford to make mistakes.'"

Sue them for what? They council can’t enforce a stadium build that has a trigger point that hasn’t been reached. They can try to cajole them into pushing on but until that trigger is reached are pretty much toothless. Now there is an argument that the white box should be included and that is an argument over rules and regulations but unless the trust has some pretty damning evidence of collusion between the council and Yorkcourt and hard facts (thats not hearsay from someone who knows a compan rep but bonafide proof) that they have been actively discouraging companies to sign up then chances of any signifcant success are slim. And yes YC don’t own all of the land but remember they (or whoever was developing the site) can apply to have the S106 recinded after 5 years, which happens to be not far off. Community facilities built on Belle Vue might be classed as a viable alternative. Also BV has already had a not long since lapsed PP for housing in it, an application on there would be pretty much a formality. Sorry but i see no outcome there thats gets us a nice shiny stadium up there.

And this is before the wider public see us trying to sue a cash-strapped council, one who have already one the battle of PR on this one. I feel the only option is to get round the table and thrash out a deal. It might not be the perfect one we all wanted but MC and the trust may have to swallow their pride to get a deal that works at least part way to what we need. The opposition are holding all the best cards here and sometimes you need to know when to fold your hand rather than going all in hoping to hit a last card winner.

For a start I don't care how cash strapped they claim to be - so what.

You clearly see yourself as a bit of an expert but you're no more an expert than me. The three experts are TRB, IA and SC because they have all the info.

I can't let to much go but actually the council could have forced Yorkcourts hand. Basically revolves around the non inclusion of the second phase of Newcold - that my friend was if you here what I here an illegal act and a gross dereliction of duty to both the rate payer and in defiance of the original agreement. Neither the Council or a certain individual had the right to do that - end of.

People are getting it wrong here. The club are not the key player it's the trust that counts. The same trust to which the agreement was made. The council has no authority whatsoever to levy any kind of charge because wherever the stadium ends up it belongs to the trust - that was and still is the deal.

The trust and only the trust have the right to levy a rent. The council are only supposedly offering BV as an alternative venue to speed it up. It is there job and there's alone to recoup the money from Yorkcourt.

The crux is that one way or another the council obliged itself to providing a community sports facility funded from the proceeds of NM and that's not changed one bit. This was why the government released green belt land for development, was the stipulation they all agreed to that was the payback! They have failed in every respect and they have acted illegally ,- why would we be taking legal action if they had't would there. No point suing YC they would just liquidate themselves though m sure we'll try it WMDC are Imo the real target.

That is how it's been explained to me you someone who (no offence) is just a name on a forum. I accept I'm no more credible myself but hey you go with what you know.

I was thinking along the same lines Slugger.

Are WMDC trying to force Michael Carter away, in the hope of someone else taking the helm

I do, especially where the Trust side of things is concerned. But as far as owning the Club, he's had his chance to get involved when we've had money troubles but he's never really wanted to fully commit.
Maybe now we're playing well on the pitch and Trinity as business is on a far far better footing, thanks to MC and the gang. Maybe if only we had a new stadium, who knows who'd come out of the wood work. icon_wink.gif

Not really. I support Wakefield Trinity, not the chairman of that particular moment. That's not to say I don't think he's doing an excellent job under trying circumstances.

The silence from MC,the club and trust is deafening, whether they are consulting legal guys or not, they could have temporarily signed up a top class Public relations manager. In this day and age getting your message across to the general public is vital. WMDC and the other parties involved in this fiasco now seem to have the upper hand.

How ridiculous if MC goes I go.
Yes he has done a great job, but to me a supporter of 60 years he is after all , just another chairman.
I do not go , I support Wakefield Trinity ,not the person/persons running the club.
