Agreed - a better option would be to use the already established 'probationary period' - employ him with a 6 month probationary period in place and if at any time throughout that period he transgresses, bring it forward, hold a review and terminate his contract; perfectly safe and legal and easily defensible before the tribunal.
If it were me, if the 6 months passed without incident, I'd hold the review and say "well done, but due to your previous conduct and the ongoing risk of your continued employment, we're extending your probationary period for a further 6 months."
Having said that, if it were me, I wouldn't employ him in the first place, but we've been there already. |

Some very funny going ons over there! The king of spin Dickie Wright never fails to disappoint. After the club announced a press conference for a major star signing, rumours starting circulating on the Cas forums and around the town that it was Gareth Ellis! Of course such a signing was out of their league but it didn’t stop then dreaming for a night. It turn out to be the resigning of a player that still has 2 years left on his contract!  |

There as bad as us for letting their imaginations run away with them!!
In light of speculation of his possible departure, i'd say its as good as a signing, but i think a few of them may feel they've been led up the garden path by RW on this one, of course some of them won't as well, but hey ho!!
Certainly adds weight to the argument that Morgan gave them the spanish archer a lack of transfer funds, if A) theyre spending extra on Chase's contract and B) they're announcing existing players as signings.
RW will milk this stuff for all his worth and the feckless will think they've had a decent off season recruitment drive.

Not too dissimilar to the ‘most important meeting in the club history’ debacle for Trinity earlier in the year. Good news dressed up to be something it could never live up to leaving supporters underwhelmed, when in reality they should be more than happy. |

The more money they spend on Chase the less money they will have to spend on the squad, only so much money in the pot. Looks like they will run with a small squad again, so expect endless moaning about injuries all next season. |

the same ellis that has said he is wanting to come to cas when his contract is up in the nrl or a different one?
