Our current full squad is mid championship table quality at best, and I can't see us somehow attracting a better class of player when we're in a lower league, but will likely lose anyone who is even remotely SL quality
We'll have less money to spend which means we'll end up having to cut back in lots of different areas - eg youth development meaning that we won't be producing as many of our own youngsters to fill the ranks
IMG are going to lock down super league making it nearly impossible for us to gain promotion, meaning there's more chance that the shock of the drop and complete restructuring will end up with us falling straight through

| IMG aren’t locking anything down. If you get your cards in place it’s open to anyone. That’s the whole point. Even if our attendances half it’ll still be 2,000 per match which I’m guessing is top half championship attendances. We will have income streams from the ground upgrades and with regards to youth Bradford still seem to bring quality through so why couldn't we. I hope we don’t get relegated by the way I just don’t think it will be the end of us like some seem to think

So you think we’ll be relegated to the 3rd tier for the first time in our history?

A lot depends on who replaces Carter and the devil in the detail of the IMG proposal. With the stadium upgrades and stadium ownership we’re a lot better positioned than many clubs.

Don’t assume we’ll be getting gates of 2000, you’ll be amazed how many fans we’ll lose. The last time we dropped down I think we only got 2000+ against Fev, Hull KR. It’ll also take time to put together a competitive part time squad which is what we’ll be. Here’s hoping we get the ‘benefactor’ stepping in or someone decides to fight for our SL place.
For the record although MC has done a great job, it’s time for a change but JM has been a breath of fresh air & I suspect it’ll be him that entices some new money into the club it it happens.

The upgrade will help with revenue generation but owning the stadium won’t make any difference. I’ll guarantee you the primacy of tenure category is removed.

| Quote: The Avenger "Anyone advocating for relegation and a “reset” in the Championship is totally out of touch with reality
Anyone who was there in 1998 1999 & 2000 will know how much we struggled and what a Herculean effort it was to win our place in Superleague. Maybe 24 years of being in SL has made some fans blasé about it but believe me, despite a few fans from Widnes or a fan from Leigh saying it ain’t all that bad, we do not want to be down there if we can avoid it.
We are one of the oldest Rugby Clubs in the world, we have a rich history and had our time as the best club in the world during the late 50s and throughout the 60s, we have Jonty Parkin and Neil Fox amongst our legends and we deserve nay belong in the top tier. Nothing will drain your soul more than looking up from the Championship yearning to be a part of the bigger games and regretting that we weakly capitulated and surrendered our place in SL.
We need to act now and do whatever it takes to get out of this hole we’ve designed and manufactured for ourselves!'"
We're not down yet, but need to turn things round really quickly, both on and off the pitch.
Firstly, we need that investor, sooner rather than later. Ideally someone who is willing to invest a little more what MC has, Ken Davy levels are a pipe dream right now.
If that investor comes in, then we need to bring in a knowledgeable right hand man, who knows the sport, players, and who to bring in that would fit into the team. Also just ad importantly, knowing when to offload a player.
Personally, though, I don't think it's necessarily the end if we went down.
We do have, and its clear to see dead wood in the squad. Don't all players become free agents. I don't think we'd get many takers at the minute, but at the same time, apart from our home grown players, I wouldn't be interested in keeping many, so the big earners would be off our books.
Added to our young players, and a choice selection of current home grown players in our squad, some shrewd signings, then we could have a competive squad.
Salford (twice), Castleford (twice), Huddersfield and Hull KR have all gone down and come back stronger. I'm also old enough to remember Wigan's stranglehold on the sport at the end of the 80's. At the start of that decade they weren't even in the top flight

The new stand will hopefully give us the income and put us in a good position to compete at the top end of the championship and give us a chance to rebuild our reputation. This cycle or hanging on every year and been the laughing stock of super league has to end. We need to start again and rebuild. I think both the club and fans need that'"
What a great idea, go and tell the people who are employed by the club who have mortgages and financial liabilities. I am sure they will back you to the hilt even after they get their redundancy notices

| I really don't get this 'reset' thought process.
In sport you fight to the end. Its just the way it is.
There are 21 games left this season. Anything can happen. We may not win another game or we may find a way and win more than someone else.
But you don't give up until the last whistle.

To what end? To do the same old next year, and the year after. What's the point of being in SL if this is all were ever going to be, which without a benefactor that's what it will be.

Honestly I don't understand your point.
You try to be the best you can be.
If that's 11th in Super League then that's what it is.
Just dropping down a league to see some wins seems counter intuitive to me. If we went down, wouldn't you still want the team to do the best it can?

There is no fun in watching crap like we have for the last 24 years. We have the odd blip, but it's pretty soul destroying. Coming 11th in SL every season isn't anything that would bring enjoyment to me, being more competitive at a more appropriate level for a club with our resources would be (of course there is no guarantee that we would be).

I'm not sure how long you've watched but I've watched them after relegation and I assure you getting heavily beaten at Barrow or Batley is no fun either. Unless you have money it's not suddenly going to be all rainbows.
I've had lots of fun watching Wakefield over the last 24 years and 20 before that. I've had some depressing times too. It's just how it is.

| I heard, allegedly, in the chip shop, it was, allegedly offered to someone for £100k recently, allegedly. A couple of weeks ago, allegedly. Can’t get rid quick enough, allegedly.
Without a director of rugby or the like, you have no chance with the set up as is anyway, allegedly.

Most of the team is dead wood let's hope we get rid .Think you will get more fans ,coming to watch a young team in the Championship If we go down the same root of bringing in old players it will kill us revamp ground or not
