| Going back to the rugby league title.
Although he didn't really so a great deal for the sport, it would take a big personality to take up that position and the sport prosper.
Without stereotyping our sport, I feel this would have to be a well liked, northern celebrity.
Struggling to think of many, and at the moment I can only think of Johnny Vegas, and I think Freddie Flintoff. I'm sure that Gary Barlow is an RL fan, and isn't the Take That manager also the owner of Warrington

| Quote: Slugger McBatt "Do you remember where he was when England were in a World Cup Final against Australia, a major event in the calendar and a potentially historic win for the team that he reckoned he was a patron of?
I'll tell you. Not at the World Cup Final, that's where. And in fact I recall he was at Twickers, watching his real buddies.
He took the gig but he never had any belief in it. If he had, he'd have been at the final.
As for the pair of them, they're going to hit a reality bump when George hits his teens and all the talk is about who is Queen will be and they'll be royal nobodies. People used to care about Andy and Fergie, until William grew up.
No one into sport will care about rugby league just because Harry has a photo-op every four years. But there are many high profile sports people who speak very highly of rugby league and would be happy to big it up. Tony Adams. Roy Keane. Ryan Giggs. Wayne Rooney. A fair few boxers.'"
There was only a fake Sheik, some bloke called John who was a either a podiatrist or a financial advisor, and then there was Jeff Epstein.

| He fought for his country he has my respect and always will like everyone that has. He has made some life choices good luck to him he was never in the sights of the Taliban unlike the way the rediculous press in the UK have lined him up. The work he has done for veterans is outstanding.

This is exactly what we don’t need and does just what you say you are trying to avoid by stereotyping our sport.
Whoever the next patron is they need to be assist in changing perceptions not compound them.
I’m not saying anyone from the North should be excluded but I’d hope we could do than Jonny Vegas.
A royal or a quality credible politician (if there is such a thing) would be much more influential than someone like a celebrity for this role, but to be fair it isn’t an obvious one.
Princess Anne has attended games in the past I believe maybe a natural replacement however not sure she truly has an interest for the sport in the same way Prince Harry has.

I cannot recall Princess Anne ever attending an RL match, but she is Patron of the Scottish RFU, and has been to Murrayfield on many occasions.
Difficult to fill this role, as there's no obvious choice. The Queen was patron of the RFL for many many years, but was not visibly doing anything to promote our game, and very rarely turned up at Wembley to present the cup.

People had little interest in either regardless of those things. Before Epstein, Andy had nothing to do with the other things and no one really cared about him. William's kids will attract all the interest in around ten years.
I've nothing against either, but let's not pretend he did anything for rugby league. It was an occasional photo-op, nothing more, but had no impact of the profile of the game.

Think that’s unfair.
Held the World Cup draw at Buckingham Palace, attended numerous grass routes tournaments including one very well publicised at Headingley, presented the Challenge Cup trophy, launched and was involved in the mental health initiative around the upcoming World Cup.
Given the obvious other pressures and responsibilities as a royal think he did ok.
He has a genuine interest in rugby, more so Union, but he certainly enjoys league also.
Personally think it is a real shame as whoever comes in isn’t likely to have the same level of profile but hopefully they have a genuine interest in the game.

I don't know, there's a lot of people angry about Lewis Hamilton living abroad.

Nothing racist in that post. Seems this topic was a dog whistle for the ‘all lives matter’ brigade though.

Nothing against Markle, I detest Hamilton because, he cried on tv when he got binned by that lass from that band, and he runs around preaching about charity etc when his tax affairs are more bent than a dog racing meet.

However, changing someone's post to imply they are being racist is a problem though.
When you come back, don't do stuff like that, whether you feel your intentions are good or not.
