Very young Widnes team that. The starting back line and front row, all home grown players. I feared the worst tonight, thought 40+ but we were in the game until the last 10 minutes.

Widnes should be proud of their performance. They kicked well and were more enthusiastic in defense than us.
You'd have to say that Jowitt being able to take a high ball clean under pressure probably stunted some of their good play and Big Dave put them under some pressure in the middle.

Widnes played a lot better than I thought they would. Credit to them for matching us all the way through. I think it would have been a lot tighter if they had 13 men on the pitch. Any idea why Owen got sent off ?

A bit of a typical CC game for Trinity, where we sometimes don't hit the heights we do in SL games, not sure if we went in a bit complacent or what, which as we saw first game up against London isn't beyond the realms of possibility. Maybe we're a bit tired after the last few weeks with not being able to rotate any players, maybe it was just one of those games. We were a bit flat out there to say the least, silly errors etc and we went through the motions enough to get the win. I suppose you don't get any more points for playing high intensity, error less high quality RL.

Anyway fair pay to Widnes they came to play and gave it a good crack, so they can hold their heads up.
