| Quote vastman="vastman"No it's not harsh. You can't possibly think JD is ready to coach a SL or even a NL1 team for that matter. Where is his experience, his learning curve etc etc, come on. As for passion, I have passion for the club but you wouldn't want me coaching would you?'"
You'd have been better than Tony Smith was! (And I don't blame Smith, I blame those who appointed him on a knee-jerk. Still, hope he enjoys the flats he got.)

I concur - the suggestion of employing an unqualified, inexperienced head coach is part and parcel of what got WTW into the mess it's currently in; we need competent, qualified, experienced personnel in key roles, not 'great servants of the club', people who are 'rugby through and through' or respected former players stuffed into a suit.

Absolute crazy talk. The fact that JD walked straight into a coaching job is another reason why the game is in the state that it is. He has no coaching experience whatsoever. Going with your theory I propose Sonny Whakarau as our next head coach as I liked him and he never took a backward step on the field.

| Been saying since Easter last year he needs to go, far too many baffling decisions particularly with the team selections. Fair enough we have limited resources at the moment, but we just don't seem to make the best of the bad hand we have. We need to look elsewhere for new a new coach and get the foundations in place for a 3 year (min) slog in the Championship. Lets look at the likes of Powell, Millward, Jowett etc need to be looked at very closely to see if they can be attracted.
Sell the possibility of newmarket and SL in 3 years time, make it clear to them they can build the team they want as they will be starting from scratch next year, give them assurances that they will be given time to get things in place hopefully ready for another crack at SL when the time comes.
All the talk of JD, Morrision, Marchy's etc being touted as possible coaches is just crazy to me.

| A thread that just blows me away. There is so much going at the club behing the scenes that ANY coach is going to struggle. How can you coach a club when you have an administrator in looking to flog your players, how do we know Millard was not close to signing for another club? Given what has happened how do we know that some of the players aren't downing tools and lookig to leave ASAP? 99.9% of the people on this board do not know what is happening in the dressing room so don't assume you do and that everything is rosy.
Surely even the most blind JK haters ont his board must cut him a little slack at the moment....or do you think that was the squad he wanted to start the season with - no props and no half backs???? really get a grip...and yes i was at Cardiff and did have to watch a diabolical game...

You miss the obvious point. He chose to spend the budget he had on utility players and left us short of props - that is Kears fault.
He picked a team that had players playing out of their recognised positions and wasted a spot on the bench with Millard. Again his fault.
Oh and he wanted out last season (and whether you blame him for that or not, the only reason he is still here is cos Ted got greedy)
If we have any luck, someone will come in for an offer for Kear and the administrator will sell him.

If Millard was close to signing for another club why not play Mariano etc on the bench to give us much needed weight up front? Obst was presumably closer than Millard to signing for another club but he played. What's his excuse for having wierd bench selections for the last 12 months then?
People have been saying for months we where short but what did we chose to sign? An ageing, injury prone utility man who is now injured and another utlility half back who can't get back into the country..... At some point Kear has to be accountable for his signings, and yes I appreciate there are lots of problems behind the scenes which makes it all the more frustrating that the onfield problems are made worse and the mountain we have to climb is steeper becuase of things like this.

| I am sorry to all you regular posters with 1000's of comments if you don't agree with my choice of coach but as usual you all profess to be right. If you want a qualified, competent coach who would it be considering the big hole we are in and it is getting deeper, new owner or not we are nl bound,we are not an attractine proposition to a coach or player at the moment.

Thats not how a forum works bud, you post an opinion - others challenge it. Just sulking and not offering anything in return to back your opinion when challenged up makes you look a bit daft and your argument look a bit paper thin.

| I am not sulking just merely asking the question of who would want to coach wakey at the moment.JD could cut his teeth in nl with us,jowitt is doing fairly well at dewsbury, after a rocky start, and is now doing quite well.As you say it is my opinion.

| Because Mariano simply isn't up to it yet from what i have seen, unlike Paul Johnson who i think has been a great spot.
re signing Utility players, the issue any coach would have at Wakefield is who wants to come here and also managing the quota, it's been a two horse race re the franchise for some time and currently it's a one horse one.
