| Ask yourselves this, if Castleford have nothing as Ted says and you have a good plan B,and imminent plan A why is he attacking Cas. There will be an independent company reviewing stadia, and Ted will be able to outline Wakefields plans to the RFL in the franchise application, so if all he is saying is true, why look bitter and desperate pleading in the media.
Also on the subject of plan B, If he has such a good plan B just tell everybody. I think the Shareholders meeting will be to tell folk they are up the creek without a paddle.
At the end of the day he could have used the media to quell the fears of his own supporters, play up plan B and even long term plan A, he could of even announced a couple of signings, instead he is pleading his case against a club he says has nothing, tells me he thinks he has less than nothing.

Hard to disagree with the logic of this post

| I suppose it depends whether it was an off the cuff remark rather than an actual seeking out of the media to make the plea for fairness. I haven't seen the article so I can't speculate as to which it is.

The point remains though why even go there if you have confidence that you can present a better case in the Franchise bid and that you have the evidence to back it up. Why not make off the cuff remarks about your plan B or Some signings, something to give your fans real hope. IMO he as just blinked first in a staring contest.

| I for one am disappointed with this article, it smacks of bitterness and jealousy. Ted should concentrate on getting us out the mess we have got OUR selves into.

| Quote: Tricky2309 " I have absolutely no time for Ted Richardson, we are in the mess we are in principally due to bad decisions made by him and his hangers on. If this club goes to the wall, he will be one of the main reasons. I was disappointed but not suprised to hear of his comments in the press. All it does is make us look desperate and reinforces the view that we know we are struggling. As I said on another thread whatever any one thinks about Dicky Wright, it will be some achievement if they manage to get the stadium built with very little public money going in.
If he wanted to criticise anybody were up against for a licence then it should have been the Welsh team, cos at least his comments may have had a small degree of relevance in terms of us needing to be treated fairly. I know it wouldn't make any difference in the outcome, but at least nobody could have argued about it.'"
Exactly which decisions of Ted's do you think are putting the club on the brink?
The worst decision the board made in recent years was to allow Pearman to get involved with the club, and even then the only reason things went pear shaped is because he committed the club to deals that he didn't actually have the authority to enter into on behalf of the club. It's because of Ted's significant efforts with the bank and guarantees he put in place to support the club's financing that we did not fold then.
He stood up for the club when we were first promoted to SL but without the share of Sky money that others were getting and without the need to take RFL £m handouts that the merged clubs that are still in SL received (Hudds & Hull).
NONE of the issues about proposals for a new ground (be it Thornes Park or Newmarket) are down to Ted. WMDC on the other hand led us down the garden path on TP & caused plenty of delays in the planning process for Newmarket leading us to a position where the proposal was only called in last week when potentially it could have been a few months ago if there hadn't been the various delays.
Ted has never claimed to have the riches of Roman Abramovich to plough into the club to build the best squad and there's little point in significantly developing BV when the ground was sold a few years ago and we were always going to be moving out.
Ted's comments may not be the wisest to have been made in the public domain (no matter how true they are) but to suggest that he should shoulder the blame if the club lost its franchise & (God forbid) went to the wall is more ridiculous than me suggesting that Wigan are actually the club most at risk of losing their franchise!!! (they aren't but you get the point)
Whatever the future holds for WT when somebody comes in to take over the reins from Ted, he will go with my thanks for doing his utmost to see the club being as successful as possible.
If you think you could do better then get yourself on the phone to James Elston and make an offer to buy the club, otherwise keep your comments to things you actually know about (and for the record my comments are based on first hand knowledge of the facts from dealing with the club on a business level).

Look mate this is a forum and I will air whatever views I want - the fact you choose not to accept or agree with them is your perogative.
As far as why he is to blame, what you conveniently forget in your rant above is that Ted was Chairman when all this happened (ie he let himself be suckered by Pearman and the Council re Thornes Park). He has family members doing jobs that would be better given to people with the suitable skills to do them. His reign has coincided with the perception that the club is not fit for SL by other clubs fans and todays ill thought out article in the LE just makes us look even more desperate.
The buck stops with the chairman end of. If he didn't own the majority of shares he would have been sacked ages ago.
Why aren't we anouncing plan B now? Is it because it is not finalised or doesn't exist? I am a shareholder and I am quite happy for them to tell us all and the wider RL community now what Plan B is rather than wait until 4 Jan
As for me doing a better job, believe me if I had the money I would certainly give it a go. As with alot thats wrong with this club, too many fans heap praise on people who are simply not worthy of such adulation.

| Very poor from Mr Richardson, criticising other clubs in some sort of futile 'points scoring' excercise simply looks like he is trying to simply clutch straws that don't even exist. He is a desperate man who pretty much knows all is now lost.
Not to mention his comments are rather inaccurate. I could have get some plans draw up to build next to Buckingham Palace and I've got the money to do it, but it's not going to happen because I don't have and won't get PERMISSION to do it, which is more-or-less the situation Wakefield find themselves in. Unfortunately in this business full planning permission is a pre-requisite despite plans and finances being in place! So as Cas have outline planning permission and expect no objections when full planning permission is submitted and Wakefield have NO permission, Cas are FAR futher forward than Wakefield (at the moment).

What exactly is wrong with giving jobs to family members? As a business, WT is smaller than many other "family businesses" where management wouldn't be overly criticised for a bit of nepotism so why should this business be any different?
It's a bit of a self-defeating argument to suggest that if Ted didn't have the stake he did that he would no longer be chairman - if he didn't have the shares he wouldn't have become chairman in the first place.
I have seen many other businesses - even family businesses - where management have just given in at the slightest problem, wound the company up & started again under a different name. There's plenty that Ted can be criticised for, but the one thing he can't be criticised for is doing the best he possibly can for the club he loves.
He has often said that he would be more than happy to sell the club to someone who can take the club forward, but no such offers have ever really been on the table.
Like you I'm a shareholder & I'm keen to see what comes out of the shareholder's meeting. The meeting was always planned for Jan 4th, and it was always planned to be announced after the decision from Eric Pickles was known. What hadn't been expected was the way the decision went.
I expect that Plan B will see us at Oakwell until Newmarket is built (and it will be). The only thing that's changed with Newmarket is the timescale for it to be built which means we might not be moving in until 2013 rather than some time in 2012.

Nothing wrong with giving jobs to family members if they are the best people for the job. This is a professional sports club not the local corner shop.
You must see that since the decision for a PI was made the only articles coming out of the club have been desperate. Its two weeks since we were due to announce 2 further signings - but no explanation about the reason for the delay. The revealing of Plan B if it exists would at least give some potentially postive news as we all head into the christmas holidays.
I hope you are right about Newmarket, but i still have my doubts, given the long list of issues - plus the fact that if the PI delays it for too long, York Court might not need the stadium to get the commercial units done and/or their business plan/funding may no longer be viable depending on what happens in the interim period.
With regards Ted selling the club, I suppose the lack of offers could have something to do with the state the club is in and/or the amount Ted may want to sell up. These are again factors that were/are within Ted's control
